2013 GT500 with 600hp?

O.K. here we go again. I have some inside info. that there will be a Camero z28 killer and that is called the 2013 GT 500 with 600 plus H.P. Only a rumor but Carroll has been spending time with FORD lately and you know what that means. Shelby will not be out h.p. by Mopar and Chevy. Im thinking that it will be a redesign but perhaps the 6.0 race motor that they are currently using in the Rolex. I might be way off but something Bad Ass is brewing at SVT with Carrolls imput. I am going way out on the limb on this one. I was hoping a 2013 COBRA with the 6.0 mod motor. I know CS whats to do a new COBRA maybe with the help of SVT. Interesting and hoping. SUDDEN.

There is also a rumor of the 6.2L being used. I'm not convinced in either case as the new 2011 aluminum 5.4L is capitalized no less than 3 years and they need to keep costs down while lowering weight and considering an IRS. 600HP + is no issue for the current engine with some additional tuning and parts that are already available.

+1

Would only take some very minor mods to have it put out 600HP at the flywheel. Now, 600 rwhp..NOW you're talkin! :superhero:

But there is more the cost and technology involved in a decision to put out more HP from the factory. Safety rating of the car, Insurance, all sorts of things I have no clue about as well.

Would be way cool though!

:happy feet:

take the 2011 throw a TVS and tune on it, 625hp at the crank and call it the 2012 or the FR 2.9 Whipple 750hp at the crank and call it the King Cobra.

I'd rather they spent the development monies on continued weight reduction along with restamping the rear inner wheel wells to allow more wheel/tire out back.

Hopefully Ford will see the light and go the way of the new Vette. Big displacement motors are out time to step up! Nothing can compete with the wicked sound of a small V8 or V10 screaming at 10-12k!! American engines have been going the wrong way but now with the new GM development it will hopefully force Ford to follow..

We want smaller engines now?? How much crying did I hear about the little 4.6 that we had to live with for so many years? And now with the 5.0 out every GT fanboy on earth thinks it's the 2nd coming of Christ.

I think Ford will expand on the capabilities of its 2 new mustang motors for some time. Across the board, Ford is running smaller displacement than the competition already.

If I'm not mistaken, Ford owns the GT500 moniker and the Tiffiny Snake logo.

So conceivably, we could still have a GT500 with the snake logo on the grill and fenders WITHOUT Shelby being involved. Ford wouldn't have to put anything across the rear deck...not "SHELBY", not "SVT" and not "FORD"....just leave it blank and keep the GT500 faux gas cap with the Cobra and SVT logo on it.

I believe Shelby owns the GT350 moniker but not the GT500...(I say, I BELIEVE...)

So although Shelby may or may not have his hands in the GT500 project after his (rumored) contract runs out in 2013, Ford could still produce a GT500.

Correct me if I'm wrong,

Phill

or drop the GT500, and make a SVT Cobra or as some have been hinting a King Cobra
