Robert M
Not a complete set. Previously posted... http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?/topic/56759-ss-rims-on-ebay/page__view__findpost__p__968371 Agreed, there are only two w/Super Snake logo's, BUT.............there ARE two w/Super Snake logo's, that is the unique part of this auction, and any previous auctions of this type. I believe that these wheels "may" be slipping out of the Alcoa facility? R

RogerS
If you look closely they are not new. "Like new" was in the description. It is inevitable people will change wheels and sell. Don't believe they are slipping out of Alcoa though. Roger
2010KonaBlueGT
Don't believe they are slipping out of Alcoa though. Roger They had two Alcoa center caps on the wheels, which is why *I* suspect he's thinking they are getting them directly from Alcoa. I personally have never seen the KR or SS style Dura-brite wheels with Alcoa center caps so how does one get them? (the caps) Phill
Robert M
If you look closely they are not new. "Like new" was in the description. It is inevitable people will change wheels and sell. Don't believe they are slipping out of Alcoa though. Roger I contacted the seller. He took these wheels in on a partial trade at his shop, I believe he handles ATV's. He says that it appears that these wheels have never had any tires mounted on them, he also stated that the Alcoa wheel facility is either in, or very near to his town..........and then those Alcoa center caps, where did they (the Alcoa caps) come from? Without having these wheels in front of me, it is hard to tell about "use" or "no use" previously, but from what I can see, there is no evidence of stick-on wheel weights, no valve stems or TPMS sensors and bands and no marks at the bottom of the lug nut holes where the lugnuts contact the wheel. I do see dust, but I don't know if that is brake dust, there is no evidence of brake dust in the lettering which is very common on used wheels, if they have not been cleaned. These are just quick observations. These wheels may be used, and if they are, in their condition they appear to have been well worth $2K. 2010KonaBlueGT
These wheels may be used, and if they are, in their condition they appear to have been well worth $2K. I agree. A set of 20" Alcoa's from Shelby cost you just under $2K brand new. AND you still need to buy center caps. I'm still thinkin' along the lines of someone knows someone inside Alcoa and got a pair with the SS etching in them. The Alcoa center caps are what make me suspect that. But having said that, that is purely a GUESS on my part. Until someone can tell me how the guy got the two Alcoa center caps for the Alcoa SUPER SNAKE wheels. *IF* they were Super Snake center caps, I'd buy the "used/trade-in" story. But they aren't..... 2010KonaBlueGT
Phill - Those Alcoa caps are definitely unique. Which is why I'm so suspicious. If they were indeed used or take-off Super Snake wheels, my feeling is that the center caps would be Super Snake center caps, not Alcoa center caps. Again, just a GUESS on my part. leadfoot 5.4
I meet a guy here in Hawaii, who lives in Manoa. He had set of embossed SS rims that he posted on craigslist.,he was asking $3,000.00 w/ tires, sensors and caps. both frt. tires had lots of inside wear but the rear tire looked almost new...He said it was purchased from a pawnshop in Vegas. $3,000.00 was too much for my blood, so I passed it up. I heard it was sold by the next day. '

In fact, several sets of these repops for sale if you Google. I thought that Shelby had a patent on this style wheel and none could be reproduced? Does anyone know how to determine a real SS wheel as compared to a repop? Obviously center caps, but even even repop SS center caps will be showing up sooner or later from a vendor; they're nothing more than plastic. Ebay item #: 230303930035 Jim Jim - I have seen several vendors who offer the non-Super Snake logo'ed Alcoa's, in addition to Shelby Performance Parts. This also seems to be the case with items like the Cooling System Upgrade for the Super Snake, I believe it can be purchased through other vendors like Lethal Performance, Revan Racing (who originally designed the system) and others. Shelby does have the patent on the wheels, caps etc. and they get $$$ for every sale from wherever these items are sold. It is a different story if there are wheels (new) appearing in public with the Super Snake logo, or new plastic Super Snake center caps. These are the items that are/were Super Snake build specific/unique. As far as I know, the non-Super Snake logo'ed Alcoa's and the Super Snake logo'ed Alcoa's are the same, except for the additional "SUPER SNAKE" logo's. Here is an example of "Super Snake" center caps offered on Google. They are Shelby logo'ed, they fit the Alcoa's, but they are not Super Snake caps as are installed during the Super Snake conversion. http://www.cruizinconceptswholesale.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SHELBYCENTERCAPS-SUPERSNAKE&cat=472 R

Ebay item #: 230303930035 Jim I checked out that auction. I would NEVER buy anything from that seller. I can't stand sellers that add music to their listings and don't include a "mute" button. Not only that, they have a script running on the page that unmutes your computer speakers if you try to mute them.
