sgt1020
I'm looking to get better rear control arms, and an adjustable panhard bar. Any suggestions on which brands or which ones to get? Also, Would you recommend BBK or Steeda Under drive Pulleys?
clark17357
You will get different views but I went with Metco for the control arms. They work great and they are made right here in the USA. I would consider a Watts Link over the panhard bar if I was going in that direction. The Fays2 has worked well for me. Jim
LuLu
LuLu wears two fixed displacement lower control arms from LFP, and an adjustable upper control arm also from LFP. This was a good upgrade, IMHO. While installing a one-piece driveshaft also from LFP, and experimenting with the combined handiling features. Final opinion...Good stuff. LuLu also wears a Lakewood Watts link, which is remarkably identical to the Fays2 kit, and a tad cheaper. This improved our Watts link theory and expectaions, and is one bad-azzed upgrade in handling/suspension, IMHO. Control is absolute (once you learn to drive it) and unbelieveably certain and centered, as well as responsive. Can't get "centered" much better than this today. I cannot offer much opinion about the Steeda underdrive pulleys... LuLu never tried them and I never spent much time considering them myself. Too many complaints and questions associated with underdrives on the '05-'09 4.6L-3V to gather any supportive opinion "pro", or, "con". There was enough 411 about them that I decided to avoid them, and find another path for building RWHP, I did not extend my investigative interest in underdrives. I kinda viewed them as "steroids", as well as "stuff" you will eventually come to remove and dispose of (at a financial loss) once you see the "supercharger" light at the end of the tunnel. IMHO, skip them...Save your money. They do not pay off, and there are much better (and cheaper in the long run) ways to build RWHP today, and with many diminished risks and "out-of-pocket" expenses. Just my .02C...
FordFan1
Also, Would you recommend BBK or Steeda Under drive Pulleys? Steeda for me- I've installed them on three different Mustangs including my current SGT, all with 4.6L and have been happy on all occaisions. sgt1020
Would I notice any power gains or improvements in MPG with the Steeda underdrive pulley? And would I need a tune or re calibration if I put the pulley on?
FordFan1
Would I notice any power gains or improvements in MPG with the Steeda underdrive pulley? And would I need a tune or re calibration if I put the pulley on? Most likely not, maybe good for 5-7hp, no tune required I like 2 things about them- 1) They slow the accersories down resulting in less wear and tear when running in the upper RPM's. 2) The engine rev's faster resulting in improved up and down rev matched shifts. All good things while spirited driving or driving on the open track
