MustangTom
OK, I'm feeling kinda stupid right now. I bought the Shelby Sun Shade and just went to use it for the first time today. It comes with the shade, 4 suction cups and no instructions. I placed it in the window and it seems a bit too wide, which causes it to slump down at the top. The rearview mirror doesn't hold it up very well. I tried attaching a couple suction cups to the elastic loops on both ends of the top of the shade, but that didn't do much since the shade is too wide. I'm thinking of hanging the thing in my garage like a poster, and getting a different kind of shade. Any advice? Tom
kahmann
Same problem I ran into with mine awhile back. You'd think that they'd have them built to fit any Mustang with a pretty nice and tight fit. But nope, it's hardly useful.

pegasus
MINE DIDN'T COME WITH THE SUCTION CUPS (THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE), I PLACE MINE UP AGAINST THE WINDOW. I THEN FOLD DOWN AND OVER THE THE SUN VISORS, WHICH WORK AS BRACES AND KEEPS THE SUN SHADE IN PLACE. AGREE WITH THE VEHICLE BEING OUT THIS LONG YOU'D THINK THEY'D FIT A TAD BETTER. GOOD LUCK!!! We've got a winner! I used the sun visors to hold the top, and that seems to have done the trick. The suction cups aren't necessary. Thanks for the tip! Thanks for the tip! Uh... isn't this the way your supposed to do it. Every sunshade I've ever used requires that you use the sun visors to keep them in place. Maybe it's just me..... :fool:

MustangTom
I've only ever had one other sun shade, and it was a different type. It was 2 mylar circles with wire sewn around them. You could 'fold' each circle into a figure eight for storage, then you unfold them and place them behind the rearview mirror to use. Because they were 2 seperate cirlces, they could be arranged to fit different sized vehicles. The stiff outer wire and rearview were what kept the circles in place. Now that I know to use the visors it's obvious, but having never seen it done before I was stumped!
mmolzahn
Whew....I was starting to feel like an idiot BUT...maybe we are the only 2 to do it that way +1 I think it fits pretty damn good. Maybe they should put a manual in the package instead of the suction cups!
WildAzCat
I have one and found it to be cumbersome to use and store in the car. I ended up tacking it up in the garage and buying a sun shade that was actually made to fit my windshield and fold up for storage.

WildAzCat
I just don't like the fit. I wish is was a little more custom for the mustang. I really like the one piece that is collapsible to an eight inch circle. Here is mine at a car show. BTW.. I got a comment saying "Who puts on a sun shield at a car show".
