BCPD199
I was underneath the hood this afternoon and discovered 1 large spot and two small spots of corrosion. Lucky me! It's on the underside of the hood (thank God) on the driver's side front edge. I found a TSB concerning the 2007's on down; but, I couldn't find anything on the '08's. Has anybody else had this problem? Do they replace the whole hood, or just repair the area? I can't upload the pics I took due the size.

BCPD199
I toned down the detail on my camera. The second one is the largest . It's about 1 1/2" wide. I haven't spoken to the dealer yet. This can't be right on a two year old car. No previous damage, no previous paint work.

BCPD199
Here is a lengthy thread about the problem. Seems that sometimes they replace, other times, repair... Hood bubbling issue Thanks. I had found that thread during a Google search. With exception of two '08 Mustang GT's, there were no GT500's and most were '06's Even the TSB doesn't mention the '08's TSB 06-25-

BCPD199
My '08 had an issue and was taken care of during warranty. Thanks for your feedback. Did they replace the hood or just sand, clean & repaint the bad area? ALso, I see you have a GT/SC. That's the GT hood that shelby puts a scoop on correct? I know alot of the GT's had this issue. I can't believe I'm the first GT500 to suffer from this.
BCPD199
Well, the first phone call didn't go so well. The service manager said to bring it in and we'll look at it; but, if it's not perforated, chances are Ford won't cover it. Have the quality of the Super Snake & Tru Fiber hoods gone up? The last threads I remember reading said the prep work both hoods needed was out of control. Has this changed?

The hood on my GT/SC is an original, aluminum, Ford hood. Ford has been having corrosion problems with the aluminum hoods for quite some time. There was an issue with the SGT's hood having corrosion around the hood pins. It was caused by steel screws used to mount the hood pin kit. The steel screws cause a very corrosive action when used with aluminum. Once these hoods were repaired, the new screws used to attach the hood pin kit are aluminum. I know there are TSB's regarding the hood corrosion as it isn't anything new with the Mustangs. On my hood, the corrosion was taken care of and the hood was repainted - it wasn't replaced. My friend's '05 Mustang and my parent's '06 Explorer had the problem as well. None of the TSB's mention the '08 model year. And so far, no other GT500 owner has come forward with this as well. I go in Thursday for the service manager to look at it.
cgguy09
Hey, I have a 2007 SGT, my hood was repainted and Ford used all the same equipment (including the bent/scraped up washers on the hood) Now the hood pins & washers are starting to rust. Has anyone had any luck in getting Ford to replace rusting washers and pins? Thanks Semper Paratus! Colin Fogarty 07' Shelby GT CSM 1200 Mods: Black Gas lid Shelby Berg Faux Gas Cap Shelby Alum. BCPD199
Well, Good News!!!!!!!! I stopped by the dealership last week to have the hood inspected. The service manager took one look at it and said "that shouldn't of happen. When can you leave her so we can fix it?" Can't tell you how happy I was to hear that. He did say they had repaired numerous GT's with the same problem; but this was the first 2008 and the first GT500 he had seen it on.
