03reptile
As many of you know, myself and a number of others have ordered 2011 GT500s, have received confirmation that they were produced, and then no other information. I've spoken with my dealer, SVT, and Ford customer service, adinfinitum, and no one has given me any more information as to the status of my vehicle, which was supposedly finished on 04/24/2010. Out of frustration, I began researching AAI to find someone in Flatrock, Mi who could provide some explanation. After a number of dead-ends, I was able to talk to someone who seemed knowledgeable. As a caveat, I don't feel comfortable giving out the person's name or phone number, as that would place them in a compromising position with their superiors and I don't want them bombarded with calls from other forum members. They were kind enough to recognize our frustrations and tried to help allay our aggravations. So, let's leave it at that. It seems there IS a quality hold on Mustangs, in general, including our Shelbys. They could not reveal the reason for the hold; however, Ford is working to fix the problem and get them shipped out ASAP. My dealer has told me that when he was in Detroit, last week, he researched the delay and was told it was a faulty Sync- radio module and the plant was replacing same in the Mustangs. This may or may not be the reason, but my dealer is simply passing on what he was told. He is a longtime, personal friend and would not lie to me. I posted this info several days ago. This could explain the slow trickle of vehicles being delivered. They advised there are approximately 4,200 Mustangs sitting on the lot awaiting shipping. They checked my VIN and it has not yet left the factory for the rail yard lot..... Not what I wanted to hear. They estimated the majority of the held cars will be shipped by the end of May. So..... I assume we have a considerable back-up and that will affect cars built after mine, as well. I have no reason to doubt the validity of this information and the person seemed very understanding of our substantial frustration. I'm sorry to be the bearer of this, not so encouraging news, but since Ford has seen fit not to inform its LOYAL, LONGTIME, customers via the customer service line, then at least we now have some inkling of what is going on and can adjust or frustration level, accordingly. 03reptile
A quick addendum: I just received a call from an executive at AAI (Had left a VM message yesterday). She indicated she is checking on my car's status and will call me back when she learns it's location etc. She seemed understanding about our collective frurstation and did indicate there was a back-up, but the cars were being shipped. She will let me know where my car is located and an approximate ETA, which is more than I have now. Stay tuned.
tdusseau
Yeah mirror of the '10 model. Plenty of us had the "material hold" status. And just like you, depending on who you ask gets you a different reason. Only good thing...well bad for you. Is if you get in late on ordering and have to wait in line (like i did) then the material hold only delays the build process. This is a lot easier then knowing your car is built and waiting amongst others in the nice hot blazing Michigna sun.
Torched10
Pray that your car hasnt been produced yet, or is at least one of the lastones produced just before the QA hold is released--thats way they wont have to work there way into the parking lot very far.Luckily, mine was produced just a few days after last years hold was released.amd got it 2 weeks later--it was the first rag top in the South

Ezareth
Glad mine isn't being built until 5/24. Sure the issue will be resolved by then and should be able to get striped and shipped without much delay.
bpmurr
Sounds like a repeat of the 2010 model year to me. I had no issues ordering later in the model year and got my car before some people who ordered day one did.

I hope the "Issue" with the Sync package is they decided to upgrade it to the same version they put in the '11 Fiesta with Sync AppLink.
cbr1000
Be prepared for this to happen over and over. I know it does not help, but this is an annual post that comes up. Next to follow is, another material hold, some problem with some fitment issue, shortly after that posts will be made about how few 2011 GT500's will be made.... They don't test enough to figure these things out prior to shipment. Those will all be hard fought over TSB's someday....

I've been "ordering" Fords since 1972 (F250 XLT) and it has been the same on every one. This is Standard Operating Procedures and that's just the way it is. You consider the volume of vehicles built and everything involved from the drawing table concept to sitting behind the wheel and driving it off the lot, it's amaizing we get anything. Wow, thought this was more of a "chrysler" thing.....waited over 8 months for my Challenger SRT8, it even went to "roush" of all places, to get "something corrected"(was told the e-brake)...then sat in a lot for over a month, then even was "location unknown" at one point(referred to as MIA status/LOL), but eventually got it, and with less than 3 miles on her....good luck with yours & I am sure the wait will be worth it!! Was just assigned a delivery date that is 1 week after my build date, my dealership is less than 3 hours away from the plant. Would hate to find how long my car would be sitting waiting for delivery to California.
skipm
Deja Vu from about the same time last year. All I can say is they are worth the wait. I know I know easy for me to say since I can drive mine.
Michael Morris
If they found a problem AA and Ford WILL NOT ship the car! They want it right before it leaves!! Now the good and bad. If they found a problem the car built will not ship until they are fixed, but the cars being built now will have the problem fixed and ship!!! So if you car was built early (our car was) then its sitting waiting on the part. If you car is built this week (some of the GTs I have ordered were) they are being released. These cars will finally make it here and they will be RIGHT! MM
Wicked_SVT
I just spoke with an engineer at auto alliance. He said that my car along with many others are still on Quality Hold. He said there was a part shortage of the Sync module and the modules still need replacing. They will only be attending to the Quality hold cars on the weekends. He did say that my car should be completed this weekend and would be shipped early next week. I know someone had mentioned some of this in an earlier thread but wanted to pass the information that I have received along to everyone else. If I am lucky I will see my car hopefully around the first or second week of June. Good luck to everyone else waiting for thier cars!
