BIKEBOY
While I have everyones attention this Mothers Day afternoon... Lol! How is it that no-one else seems to complain of the rear bumper covers on Perf White Mustangs, frankly from '05 through right now on 2010 cars on the lots new, being 'yellow'?? My 2007 GT500 rear bmpr. cover has steadily gotten more yellow over the last 3 yrs. The car barely sees the light of day, ever! It only has 3200 miles on it. The rear cover is real noticeable if the car is dusty, and not as bad when it's spitshine clean. I live in Toronto right now, and ALL of the 2010 Perf. White Mustangs, (including GT500's) on all of the stores lots have yellowish frt. and rear covers. Which tells me they are bound to end up like mine as time goes. Anybody else notice this??? Yea, i've noticed this on my car and others. Its not just Mustangs or even Fords, a lot of mfg's have this issue. It seems that white just allows the base material its on to show a slightly different hue when applied. Dont know if its a primer issue, or perhaps not being laid on thick enough. Either way, short of a repaint, I dont know what can be done with it.
David Hawkins
I know that the 1994 to 2004 Mustang Bumpers were molded with a Yellow Plastic. Look to see if the 2005 to Present are as well. Cars pretty much have just one or two coats of Color and one or two coats of Clear.

Will ask him about it when I pick it up.

BIKEBOY
My dad's 07GT500 doesn't seem to show any yet. I will check in the morning though. Thanks to everyone for responding to this... I have a dilemma with this situation, in that I would hate explaining a repaint/re-stripe on that rear bmpr. cover to someone years down the road. I can just see a potential buyer of this car saying, "Yeah Right" sure it was yellowed, and you didn't wreck the car! Lol... I had Ford look at it a year and a half ago, while the car still had warranty. They agreed to a repaint...I was just too chicken. I primarily wanted to see if it is going on with anyone else out there? Thx.

David Hawkins
I would see if they would still honor the Warrany Repaint and let them do it. Years down the Road should not be an issue when/if selling as just being a Bumper Cover Repaint can be explained as having what is known as "Spider Cracks" in the Paint due to the Bumper being soft Rubber. MY500SS
Yep, my 40th has yellowed a bit. I'm leaving her as is because 10/20 years down the road I don't want people asking "why did you repaint the rear? Shouldn't it have a yellow hue". Thanks Tesgt350... I have another question for ya. I saw your Mustang parts site last nite. What color blue are you powdercoating the F/X bars??? Is it Vista Blue or something real close? I have a white coupe / blue stripes. Bikeboy

Last night I also noticed in my garage under the flourescent tubes, on my Perf. White 500, now 40 mths old, that the door handles are the same 'yellowing' color as the rear bumper cover. I'm forced to wonder if the same vendor who painted the rear covers, also painted the door handles. Too bad I can't get into chrome on these cars, as I could just cover 'em up with the chrome caps that are out there.
