hot weather and performance

Recommended Posts

I have only had my car jan, 2, 2010 up until the clutch started slipping the car was a beast. If you took the rev's past 2500 the tires would just spin. When i put the car in the shop for the clutch the weatherstarted to get hot.Once i got my car back the temp was in the high 80.the car just does not feel like it once did.I know the PCM was repogramed when the TSB was done. The tach. did not know if that would affect performance. does any one know any thing about the PCM repogram. And how bad can the hot weather affect performance.

You GT500 guys have enormous motors that put out tons of torque and tons of horsepower. But they also put out tons of heat and that affects the efficiency of your blowers in a very negative way (heat soak). While some might call it a little pricey, the Revan Racing cooling system seems to solve the the heat soak issues with GT500s. You might want to check into it. I was so impressed with it that I have it on my SGT, running water wetter and distilled water only. Heat soak is a thing of the past for me. Good luck with your car.

Car dude i dont mean to hijack, but i jsut had the tsb done like u. Im pretty sure you said u had an 08. I was wondering if you could tell me what strategy your PCM is showing. U can find it on your sct by plugging it in and going to vehicel info and then read strategy. IM having an issue and i want to see what program they gave u.

If there has only been one tsb for the pcm it was already done when I got my car in july 08 i've never had a issue with it the temp is stable. I don't hammer it all the time during the summer but I do mess around. I've never seen the car get hot it stays right around the middle of the gauge. I plan on doing the revan intercooler and radiator upgrade its money well spent for having a handle on engine heat you generate as you mod the car. You might have the dealer recheck to see if the pcm flash was good. My car was produced late Jan 08 the flash was done at the dealership in Feb. after arrival. I got the car in July 08 had 8 miles on the clock I drove it 1000 miles right out the gate home never missed a beat. Almost 10k now still solid.
