Was your 2008 GT500 built before October 2007?

If you own a 2008 GT500 and it was built prior to October 2007 ....

then your GT500 was built with the "2007" CRANKSHAFT DAMPNER.

If you upgraded your GT500 Supercharger, you may want to SERIOUSLY consider changing out to:

2008 MUSTANG SVT CRANKSHAFT DAMPER - M-6312-SVT

According to my local Ford dealer and other sources, the cutoff date for 2008 model is October 2007.

If your 2008 was built before October 2007 then, most likely, your GT500 was equipped with the heavier 22LB 2007 crankshaft dampner.

Ford Warranty clearly states:

If you install the 2007-2009 MUSTANG SVT 605 HP SUPERCHARGER UPGRADE KIT: M-6066-SGT, then, you must use the upgraded lighter damper M-6312-SVT to be eligible for the FORD limited warranty.

Why would the Super Snake mod shops NOT know this.

Why would the Super Snake mod shops install the 2.3L Twin Vortices Series (TVS) supercharger FRPP - M-6066-TVS

http://www.fordracin...tKeyField=10846

without installing the upgraded damper M-6312-SVT?

Ford Racing clearly states the lighter dampner must be installed to prevent crankshaft failure.

Does this mean our Ford Factory Warranty is VOID?

Regardless of the warranty, what damage has been done to the engine due to the correct dampner NOT being installed?

This has been brought up before and the dealer that said the early 08s have the 07 dampner is F.O.S. I bought mine 7-28-07 and it has/had the 08 dampner as all 08 models do-If someone has actually seen something different please post it up.So far it has been the same old "I heard".When I installed the IW 10% it was actually a little heavier than the one I pulled off.

  • 3 years later...

So what is the part number to the old 07 damper?

Is 8R3V-6316-AB the new 08 part number or the old 07 part number?

Mine was built in 09 of 2007 and need to know this asap!

I looked at mine with the hood open and it read the number above....

Thanks

Actually i heard the new number was 8R3V-6316-AB and the old one started with a 7.

I also heard these are NOT the part numbers.. they are the ENGINEERING numbers.

The part number is 8R3Z-6312-B, and CURRENTLY comes up as 8R3Z-6312-D.

Not sure if the B is the 07 part.. or if it was just changed to D because of a different reason.

I've heard both.

Regardless,

Mine has three spokes in the middle of it and is not solid like most people say the 07 part is.

However.... now someone is telling me that some 07's have a three spoke design and not a solid.

And that even if they have a three spoke... it is a different three spoke than the 08 so you still have to change it.

Im CONFUSED.

The ENGINEERING number on mine is 8R3V-6316-AB

But I dunno if they change the engineering number when they change parts. Or if its just the actual part number they change.

Would have helped if this person said the part he listed here is the NEW one or OLD one. He put two pics showing the difference but and listed a part but again didnt say which it was.. and again listed the Engineering Number and not the Part Number.
