Lee N.
Has anyone changed there gears from the 3.73's? If so to what and how do you like it? I am thiking about going back to the stock 3.31's. I like the 3.73's on take-off, but I feel I have too much gear for the power. I am thinking a 3.31 would let me hook better. I am a little worried about the increased tire hieght making the stock gears too tall. I am changing my differential anyway and it would be the perfect time. I have often wondered how 3.55's would work? A little less than 3.73, but not as drastic as a change to 3.31's, although a 725 would have no problem effortlessly over powering 3.31's either. R i agree and was thinking about this change after the car was first SS'd.... 3.73 is alot of gear for this power level. but the 3.73 has grown on me and I am getting used to the feel. I think I'm gonna stick with the 3.73. Ron

You should be in 4th gear at or very near redline. Phill

1badsho
I have 410 gears and considering going down to 373 or 355 for various reasons. One ... is If i go back to stock .... you cant dial in your 410 gears with the odometer. Secondly take off with my stage II set up ... all wheel spin in first and second gear. The 373 or 355 would give me better traction. Lastly the 373 or 355's would improve my fuel economy. One thing that does help with either the 373 or 410 gears is launching the car at a dead stop for normal everyday driving. You have much less wear and tear on the clutch because its alot easier to get the car rolling. My gut instinct is to go to the 373's ... comments anyone ? bchorney
I'm personally happy with the 3.73s. I think it is much easier to drive around town in traffic. You give up some gas milage, but who the hell puts on a Kenne Bell worrying about gas milage!!! Cheers Brett

Phill Hi Phil my 1/4 mile trap speed here in denver is about 121mph.... we lose about 20% HP due to less oxygen at 5400 feet with that I am around 4500 in 4th gear crossing the line at sea level would be closer to 6000 RPM I think. when my car was stock GT500 (with 3.31 gear) I would cross line in 3rd gear at 6500 RPM.... trap speed 114 mph Ron

I went back to the 3.31s before running the Texas mile last year for top end speed, I ran a best time of 183 on pump gas with a 10mph head wind and 85+ temp, on the trip back we stoped at a local track and I was traping 131 in the 1/4 on street tires....I still cant get any traction to launch with street tires. I was chasing everyone down.... I am currently running a 3.55 IRS system and will have to get back with ya on that.... Ken

Lee N.
Oh yea thanks again for the pully Lee, Ken You are welcome. I do like the 3.73's better for everyday driving. I am also running a taller tire (28") which I am afraid would exaggerate the poor starts with the 3.31's. Guess I will stay put.
breoland
I think the cars should have come with 355, great all around gear if you ask me. I loved them in my 04 cobra, i almost wish i put them in my 09 shelby. I didnt think i would have seen much of a difference goping from a 331 to a 355 so i went with 373 as everyone else
