Front Rotors ?

Recommended Posts

I have started to notice a little bit of a pulse in the front rotors. It is just starting to show up in the steering wheel as a wobble. I haven't been hard on the brakes or heated them up too much. Has any body else had this?

I would look at after market rotors if they are better. Does any body have a rotors they love?

Your rotors are getting warped. It happens...nothing you can really do about it. You can take them to get turned, or you can find another set that are cross-drilled/slotted/vented or whatever floats your boat. I like the Baer rotors, but there are plenty of good brands out there. Happens often to cars that sit a lot or have sat awhile.

???? What does sitting have to do with warped rotors???? headscratch.gif It's from HEAT.

I think he may be confusing the thumping you get with flat spoted tires from sitting long periods (which go away when the tires get hot again).

Just my guess,

Phill

I've had two cars now purchased new from the dealer where they said the rotors were "warped" from sitting, an 07 Fusion and an 07 Focus. Basically I had to bring the cars back to the dealer and they resurfaced them (under warranty). Granted you can probably do this from hard breaking but that's up to you. That's why I asked if it had been sitting a long time.

I have a similar problem with my F-150 that sits outside and only get driven a couple times a week. Most rotors rust really easily and when you hit the brakes with the rust spots on them it gives you the pulsation warped feeling in the pedal. I have replaced the rotors with an aftermarket good quality brand and after sitting still have the problem after a while. Im sure you dont have your car parked outside for extended periods, so this probably isn't it, because it doesn't seem to happen to my vehicles that are kept indoors.

I'm sorry, but I'd have to hear scientific explaination on how rotors could "warp" from sitting??? :headscratch::headscratch: As far as the dealers explanation -- thoes service dept reps will sling any kind of BS they can and then sit back and see what sticks.

Well it is actually a buildup on the rotors....I doubt they "warp" per se, I'm just using their admittedly poor choice of words. But the description of his problems just like what I experienced. Both care sat on the lot for 6-9 months before we bought them (we only buy manuals which for whatever sell slow).

I'll buy the idea that rust will build up if they sit long enough. I've had that happen. A minor machining of the surface will cure the problem.
