jason.lantis
Hello All- I'm not sure if this question has been asked before, but is there any difference between M-5230-5GT and M-5230-SGT muffler kits other than about a $150-$200 difference in price? They both seem to have the same inlet and exit (tip size) and mounting points. Am I missing something here or are these items identical? I greatly appreciate any info you might have. Thanks! 07SGT4578
The M-5230-5GT has a slant cut rolled exhaust tip, the M-5230-SGT has a slant cut non-rolled tip. Otherwise, they have no difference. Buy the M-5230-S, you won't regret it. Chris
ingram4868
Aside from looks they sound very different. Other members have reported that the 5GT is very loud and drones a lot. The SGT is more mellow and drones very little.
Seahorse
Yes, there's quite a difference in sound with the 5GT's being noticeably louder - so I went with the 5GT's :D . They do drone at ~1800rpm or so though, but I've learned to drive around it as outside that window they sound great!
jmn444
The SGT is the factory Shelby GT muffler... they sound ok, but not really a muscle car sound to me.

Sorry but the M-5230-GTA is the Shelby GT muffler. The SGT was made for the GT500's, to remove most of the drone the 5GT's have on our cars. Jason The GT500KR mufflers have the aggressive sound of the 5GTs w/o the drone. Several vendors have them, but the best price I found was at Blue Oval. http://www.blueovali...hp?pid=99013360 Good Luck!
