nite
quite busy, in fact... on top of changing the oil, fuel filter and plugs, I deleted the pcv system... mounted a custom radiator shroud plate... painted the calipers and r&r'd the rocker stripes (which now have the correct font, thanks to forum member 07SGT4578)... i no, those aren't brembo's, but i figued what the heck, i had the extra decals. and finally, installed the complete stripe kit and deleted the trunk mouse in the process (i'll have to take some better pics)... these pics are defects, but i still kinda like em.... kahmann
Looks killer - good call on the crankcase breathers. I just did the same, but used K&N filters. What brand are those that you installed?

What brand are those that you installed? Car looks super sweet! I have the K&N's and an oil filler breather, regardless the passenger side still pukes oil. drives me crazy but I don't deal with the car smoking on start up or ingesting some oil and causing detonation which would lead to bad things. FordRocks1
Nuiiice!!!! What paint did you use for the front Brembos? How did you get/make the Brembo decals? I've been wanting to go red on my Brembos.
nite
thanks, guys! the filters are just some cheapos from advance auto and the paint is "chrome" rustolium (i call it bright silver).

ilmor
What does eliminating the PCV system do for the engine?
jmn444
I'd like updates after a couple months of driving to see if those breathers end up coating stuff with oil, hopefully not, but I have to think it has to go somewhere!

nite
thanks for the compliments! jmn, i think i am going to have some oil vapor to cleanup on occasion, but it shouldn't be too bad, as long as i don't let it go for too long. i've used these filters on other vehciles and cleaning was always managable. in fact, the bit of oil it made it so that i didn't have use any silicone spray to shine things up. B) ilmore, installing the filters in place of the pcv system eliminates blow-by (oil blown into the intake manifold). most people opt to install some sort of a oil catch can setup, as it's more eco-friendly (and less messy) than breathers. fordrocks1, i forgot to add that i got the brembo decals from a friend of mine who had extras after painting the calipers on his evo. i think he bought them on ebay. jmn444
I get a visible coating on the valve covers on my '68's 351 from the breathers, but that engine is soooooo much easier to clean than the 4.6 is... I think I'm going to stay lazy and use the catch cans...
tispco
I'd like updates after a couple months of driving to see if those breathers end up coating stuff with oil, hopefully not, but I have to think it has to go somewhere! I had the K&N breathers on my vert for about six months. There was a little oil on the passenger side valve cover that was easily cleaned up. I ended up removing them because the smell from the breathers was terrible, especially in a convertible. I ended up putting the PCV system back and added a catch can. jmn444
I thought the driver side was the side that pushed most of the blow by thru on our 4.6's? but you are saying the pass side is making the mess? did you end up putting cans on both sides then? nite
i hear ya tispco, a lot of people can't stand the emissions from the breathers. i happen to love the oder (smells like a old school big block). ^_^ good to hear that the oil cleanup might not be too bad. did you use the breathers before or after the s/c install? When you remove the PCV system, the connections in the valve covers just become vents, so the flow is different. On my 4.6, noticed more oil on the passenger side, but there was residue on both sides. When I put the PCV system back on, I installed the catch can on the driver's side. i hear ya tispco, a lot of people can't stand the emissions from the breathers. i happen to love the oder (smells like a old school big block). ^_^ good to hear that the oil cleanup might not be too bad. did you use the breathers before or after the s/c install? The oil cleanup was not bad at all. A little Simple Green and it was as good as new. I installed the breathers after my s/c install. I had to pull the s/c and there was a small pool of oil in the bottom of the intake manifold, so I decided I needed to do something about it. nite
thanks again for the info, tispco. i'm planning to replace the oil fill cap with a breather. the additional flow should alleviate a lot of the pressure/oil vapor on the passenger side.
