Vapor08GT500's New Shelby Project # 8

Recommended Posts

Well, as most of you that know me or follow my build-ups on customer's Shelby's that are on this forum, you know I sold my Vapor GT500. I am going to miss it, and felt bad when it left, but there was nothing else left to do to the car. It ran low 10's, won multiple trophies, went to two Shelby Bash's, and was very well known. I even drove it 2500 miles in 2 days for the Grabber bash in WA state last may and got over 21-22 MPG the whole way with 653 RWHP!! I got the cashier's check for it on Friday, and bought a 2010 GT500 Vert in Torch Red with Satin Black stripes (one of 57 in that combo, and one of 913 Verts in 10) with Electronics package which I wanted, and HID lights. Why a 2010, and why a convertible?? Well that is simple I have built 7 07-08 GT500's ( including 1 KR ) for myself that were eventually (sometimes too quickly!!) sold for my money back or even a profit that I used for events, advertising, etc, that were all 07-08 coupes. I wanted to do a Vert next, probably in Grabber Orange, but I also got alot of questions/complaints from customers who's 10's I was modding for them, as to why I didn't own a 10 bodystyle yet. Grabber Orange also wasn't available for 10. I am still not sold on the rear tailights, and other minor things on the 10's and also didn't want to be the first to blow up an 11 with the aluminum block and sprayed on liners. ( I was one of the first to blow up a 93 Cobra, 95 Cobra, 96 Cobra, 99 Cobra, and 03 Cobra) so I opted for a 10 as the motors handle in excess of 750 RWHP with no issues. Yes, I had many options, including some used ones for great prices, but I ultimately went with Michael Morris in GA. Anyone who browses these forums or goes to the Shelby bashes knows Michael as not only a great person, but a very honest, upstanding dealer (and there aren't many of them!!). He made me a great deal on a brand new 10 that was in his showroom that was a late build date and never test driven. Many of the 10's I found were in bad weather areas, already modded, and/or coupes, or verts in a color I didn't want. Michael is so easy to deal with, I didn't even want the pictures he offered as I know what he is like...anal and OCD crazy like me..LOL

I have already ordered the 6 piston Shelby/Baer brakes in red with black lettering, Shelby Alcoa Wheels and caps, Eibach lowering springs, Tokico adjustable shocks and struts, Maximum Motorsports camber/caster plates and adjustable panhard bar, H&R front and rear sway bars, Steeda Extreme Duty billet lower rear control arms with sperical bearing and adjustable upper, Steeda rear control arm relocation brackets, and the light bar.

Once car is broken in, I will be doing the Kenne Bell 3.6LC, my Dynatech header/Xpipe/hi-flow cat package, my custom modified mufflers, carbon fiber driveshaft, Super Snake Hood, carbon fiber splitter and rockers, Shelby/Revan Racing heat exchanger, radiator, and tanks, and when available for the Vert...the Kicker speaker upgrade...if Shelby won't do it, I will modify it to work like the KR axle reservoirs and other items that are said to not work. Once car is done, same thing, I will enjoy it on nice days, take to shows and events, then sell it and build another....if I don't continue the process I end up keeping them all...guess that's why I still have 22 cars in my collection....

These parts will be available for sale immediately if any one wants them. Car has 1.8 miles on it. They will come off the car as soon as it gets here, first to pay, first to get:

Brembo front brake calipers, pads, rotors, hoses, $800 (+ shipping....$65-125 depending on what state ) GREAT SGT/GT/Terlingua upgrade for cheap

Rear rotors and brackets $100 shipped anywhere in the lower 48 (will fit all 05-10 Mustangs)

18" original wheels, tires, and caps $1700 (+shipping.....$150-250 depending on what state ) Looks great on all 05+ Mustangs and Shelbys

Shocks, struts, springs, c/c plates, f&r sway bars, panhard bar, rear lower contol arms, upper arm, $500 (+ shipping....$100-150 depending on state )

Stock pullied supercharger and air intake, filter, etc $1300 shipped anywhere in the lower 48....great for custom project, to have for warranty, return to stock, or???

Any of the above parts can be paid for with Paypal, cashier's check/money order, or you can pick up in Palm Springs, CA. We can install for you too.....

I arranged shipping in an enclosed transport from GA to CA and car is guaranteed to be here by Tuesday of next week. I am excited and hope to get going on right away as the following week I am booked with another Team Shelby member with a Super Snake I am commited now to upgrade with a large list of upgrades....

I have to say this is rather sad, speaking for me. Your old 500 was beautiful! I'm glad you still have photos in your signature so I can get one last look.

Hope to see the new project car at Grabber's meet and greet next month. I'm sure i'll fall in love all over again...

You got to be talking about the one that is completely stripped down. I agree that is a fantastic car that needs Alex's attention and soon... :yup:

Congrats Alex, too bad it couldn't have been delivered on Friday when I am there. Never the less, enjoy your new build and see you in a couple of days.

Alex

When you speak of our pig iron block supporting 725HP and you talk Kenne Bell on the top; I say I want pictures of the front wheel coming off the ground( framing quality so I can hang in my office, I know Lisa wont let me take ours there) Her last comment was; we need to win the lottery so you can have a coupe to play with.

Any thoughts on reinforcement underneath?

Thanks everyone!!

And thank you Michael...you are AWESOME!! Hopefully the truck will pick her up today.

I will post pics of the new build for you all to see...

I already have $12K worth of parts on order. Red with black letter 6 piston brakes arrived yesterday as did the Shelby Alcoa wheels. Cali KR bought the new take off wheels and mywicked Shelby bought the Brembo brakes...still have the suspension if anyone wants the revised suspension to add to their 07-09 GT500...

You mean the 67 Shelby #12?? LOL...have owned it for 19 years...20 years on August 12th...I will get back to it one of these days...I wish I never tore it apart...was an 18K mile 1 owner car. Just couldn't compete with the concours restored ones...if I ever sell it, you and Enis have first shot. I know Enis has a thing for #12 cars...LOL

Thanks Leann,

More parts came in today...H&R sway bars that Tob showed you all already how amazing they are, Eibach springs, and Hankook Ventus EV12 tires. Still waiting on the Tokico shocks and struts, and upper and lower Steeda arms. I'm going to break in the engine for at least 1K miles and change the oil before it gets the Kenne Bell 3.6 and the rest of my engine mods....
