Poisnus
While driving my Shelby I noticed a couple of things, you get looks and nods, the occassional wave or thumbs up. This is on my black convertible with no stripes. Then you get the others who want to rev their engine, speed up and want to run on your bumper. This is what leads me to the title of my topic, I can only imagine what you guys with stripes have to go through, lol. I wanted stripes but the wife told me it looked to racey. I was just having this thought. James
Cobrabitn
Always get the looks especially around the neighborhood. never had anyone try to challenge me yet but then I don't get to drive it a lot! Silver stripes would look cool on a black car and are a subtle hint about the car, not too showy in my opinion.
SVTSnake
I hate my stripes, but my wife loves them so they stay on. I've never had anyone try to mess with me. But plenty of picture takers while they are driving I try to stay away from them, accident waiting to happen.

I highly recommend the flat black SuperSnake stripes on your black vert, ok, bias opinion. but very stealthy. Nothing like going from 5th to 3rd and disappearing. By the way, stripes were NOT an option on the 2007-09 verts .... unless, of course, you got a SuperSnake package!

James I feel the same--alloy with no stripes here--I think mine is about as low profile GT 500 as you can get........and yeah, I love dropping from 5th to 3rd or 4th to 2nd and disappearing! I have to come up with excuses as to why I have to "change" things. It's my 5th Mustang, you'd think she would get it by now...I can't leave them alone. Usually I just tell her it's something "pretty", works so far.
Poisnus
Your wife has input on your car .... ok. Actually it really is her car (I just get to add all the performance goodies and wash it three times a week, lol). She wanted a convertible and we looked at all makes and models before we narrowed it down to a Shelby or Vette. We decided on the Shelby since we can cramp the teenager and 11 year old in the backseat just to make them happ from time to time. James

Same with me. Alloy no stripes. As low profile as it gets, and the car still draws a ton of attention. Car load of guys pulled along side just the other day, and started taking pictures, rolling down the road. I am actually suprised at how much attention an Alloy no stripe car gets. Striped cars must almost cause accidents....
thewheelman
Oh yeah, don't get the idea we don't LIKE the attention we get! I have to tell this story here: my last Mustang convertible was a triple black 92 LX 5.0, 5 speed--single 1/2 inch red stripe across the bumper and side moldings, factory 5 spoke wheels, a sharp little car, if I do say so myself. It's the first day of high school for my oldest son, first day of middle school for my younger son. A friend asked if we could take their son to school that day too, so we all loaded up. The car was dazzling, I had her spotless, and just for effect, had ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man" on the stereo as we pulled up to school. Our friend, in the back seat, let out an audible gasp as we rolled up. I asked what was the matter and he said, "Everyone's looking at us." You know, there are moments in life when you just KNOW you've raised your kids right--and this was one of them as they both turned and said, almost in unison, "That's the whole point!" As a side bar--they chose for their first cars a 1973 Jensen Healey in Viper Red/black and a 1982 Fiat Spider in Metallic Green/tan.
skiph
Oh, I LOVE my stripes! It gets all the same thumbs up, "nods", guys walking up to me in the parking lot with their sons telling em all about the mustang they had. I love it all. The mentally challenged that want to run me all the time on the road, just make me laugh and smile. Best case is is if that happens and the noise level of driving is low enough that they can hear me when I yell.... "Hey! Can you read?" (typically resulting in a confused look, setting up for the final blow) "Well, if you can READ the side of the car, you know why I don't have to run you to prove anything. Oh, and have a nice day!" Typically followed by me hearing some cursing, and a rice burner with straight pipes and purple guages and LEDs all over the place get REAL lound trying to prove something. Yea, I love em. I feel like I have, and you know, I do have, a whole lot of new friends that "get it" and would help me out if I was stuck on the side of the road. Ash1977
I had a performance white Shelby with no stripes and I would the noticed some if the time. I have since added red stripes and everyone notices it. White was too plain for me.
