JDB
Prospective KR purchaser here, would like to know if any records for damage/repair can be found through VIN or CSM that might not show up on Carfax. I've read a couple threads on here about dealer damage, hence the proactive concern. If anyone can confirm or assist with that, please PM. Also, a KR that I'm looking at has not had the flywheel/clutch/shaft replaced, so is there any tips or tests that would help recognize during a test drive the telltale signs of whether those repairs might be eminent, beyond what's in the Issue description in TSB 09-9-2? Again, just trying to be proactive on my part. Much appreciated!

CarFax would show any body damage from an accident but it wouldn't show damage from say the dealers lot that was then repaired by the dealer. I do believe there is a law somewhere that a dealer must disclose repaired damage to a car but only if it exceeds a certain percentage or dollar amount. The way I've always taken that to mean is say that the dealership lot person scrapes the bumper and the dealer then repaints the bumper it does not have to be disclosed. But say the same dealership lot person runs into a wall by hitting the gas instead of the brake and the dealer has to replace both fenders, the hood, the front bumper well that's enough damage that has to be disclosed. Also keep in mind that ALL manufacturers repair cars daily at the factory level. Getting the car on a lift for a close inspection is one way to ease your mind, at least for major damage. Minor damage can be repaired with very few clues that there was a repair. My suggestion is to always run a CarFax report, always have the dealer run a repair/warranty report and lastly always have the car inspected on a lift. Good luck and let us know how things go.
