speedyburd33
I have heard of this although I don't have this issue. Every once in a while I take off the metal plates and clean and wax underneath them to help prevent this. Hopefully someone else can shed some more light for you. springer
My 2008 SGT needed the hood repainted with 2200 miles because of the corrosion forming around the hood pin plates. It was caused by the wrong screws used to attach the pin plates to the hood - they should be aluminum like the hood instead of steel. This is a warranty issue. If you haven't done so, I'd change the hood pin plate screws to aluminum screws. I don't believe the corrosion is an issue on the 2007 SGT's. greaser
it is common galvanic corrosion is the cause the stainless screws react to the alum. hood. i riveted mine with alum rivets and no issues now.
Bob Kocon 2417
This is a warranty issue and Shelby will supply new aluminum screws. Don't change anything yourself or you may void the warranty. My whole hood had to be repainted, so while they were at it, I had them paint the stripes on. I don't believe the corrosion is an issue on the 2007 SGT's. Mine is an '07 SGT. Did they come with the aluminum screws? That doesn't look good at all, I hope you can get that resolved. SGT/SC#0471
07's had stainless screws. Yeah they will fix it, I am not worried. There is a whole hood pin thread with tns of info if you guys search for it. I think mine are getting pop-rivited back on with aluminum rivits. I noticed the corrosion when it exceeded the diameter of the plate.... I live near/on the saltwater and as an avid boater I am not surprised at this at all... Bummer, times like these I remember why I wanted the white car. Glad its not house of kolor super flake....haha.
