snakeman
I never had my baby out in the rain so what can I expect when this happens, is the engine a mess or do the honey comb openings do a good job of routing the water away.
DDT
Same here as far as the rain but I see the 07-09 vents do a good job deflecting water from the engine bay when being washed..............
garagelogic
It'll be fine. Very little water gets through. Mine is a daily driver and it takes me about 10 minutes to clean up under the hood before a cruise-in if it has rained that week.
SicShelby
They do an *alright* job. Of course if you drive in the rain it's getting everywhere anyways, and the heat extractors are a small portion. If it's just parked in the rain then obviously it's heading over the engine... When I drove mine from Ohio through rain to get it here in Cali, I was actually decently surprised how clean the engine bay was. It wasn't as bad as I would have thought. Burning Blue Star IV
I drive in the rain when I have to. Really very little rain seeps into the compartment if any. I think more gets in whenever you wash the car.
iamlightning03
ive got a funny , interresting story about this . it rained cats and dogs the other day (my car gets parked outside). the next day i hop in the car to run some errands. im sitting at the light and the next thing you know (i think its smoke),steam starts billowing out the extracter. everyones eyes are allready staring at the best looking car around and they see this, i can hear people laughing at me, i just feel like a moron . all kind of crazy things start going through my head. i look at the temp gauge and every thigs ok . i pull over and pop the hood . i realize what happened. the fans kicked on and blew all the rain water that came in through the extracter all over the hot motor. kinda scared me. so my answer is no it does not deflect it very well. man i need a parking structure. I cut a piece of plastic 60" square and place it over my engine (when its cooled down) and then shut the hood down on it until it latches but is not completly closed when i wash my car. I also park the car on a little incline and then all the water flows out onto the bumper and does not get onto the engine.

I just lay a towel over the engine underneath the extractors when I wash mine.

Too Funny a Great story and thanks for the heads up. Good advice when washing as well from you guys. I was thinking about cutting a piece of cardboard about the size of the extractor with a towel wrapped around when washing. I will advise how that works. I've felt that feeling when I'm caught in rush hour traffic in a torrential downpour and couldn't put my top up because I had my 1 piece tonneau cover on... Good ole Ohio weather. Washing Update; I took a piece of wood, approx size of heat extractor, wrapped a towel around and carefully washed hood, piece of cake and No water on engine!
