Canadians — What did you pay for your GT500?

For the Canadians on this board, if I may ask; How much did you pay for your GT500?

I've got a few quotes from dealers but I was hoping to know what the owners are paying for them.

Thanks,

2 years ago I paid sticker for a 2008 out of Colorado. Sticker was $46,888 Us dollars so buy the time I shipped it and paid GST it came to about $50k Canadian. Canadian dollar was at par with the US dollar when I bought her, just like it is now. The only reason I did not buy it locally is because the dealers around Calgary wanted $10 to $15k over sticker so I saved at least $10k by buying it out of the US.

Work them hard on price as there is tons of inventory out there. Go to autotrader.ca and key in "Shelby" under a Canada wide search and you'll come up with 5 pages of Shelby's for sale. You'll be able to get a great price. If not, there is always other options.

So the story is not true that the Canadian Ford dealers mark the Shelby's up with an ADM of 1 case of Molson and a pound of back bacon?

Last year I paid 52,300 all taxes in for a 2009 coupe at Healy Ford in Edmonton, that was after searching for 6 months,The sticker on it was 58,900. I also had a deal worked out with Rose city Ford in Ontario that came within $ 1000.00 of my deal after I railed it home except it didn't have a few of the options I wanted so I bought locally. I keep an eye almost weekly just for fun, I have noticed that the number available for sale has been continually declining, and most are still asking around $ 50,000 for the 08 an 09's with low mileage. If you are looking for a 2010 Healy Ford has approximately 5 in stock and I'm guessing they will stay there for a bit with the 2011's on the way and they may have to drop their prices. If you would like i can hook you up with my salesman. If you are looking for a used one, I would wait till our dollar reaches par or better again, which is forecasted for later this year and pick one up in the states if you don't mind having the MPH, vs the KM/H..

Ohh I can't blame you for paying it, but I shudder at the fact you guys have to pay so much on top of a car that is already marked up a bit too much by the factory. Then there is Canadian taxes and God knows what else you pay to drive a performance car over there that makes me cringe.

This isn't California lol...

We don't have to pay anything "extra" there is a sales tax and that's about it. For me that was 5 percent.

What I paid isn't that far off from what americans pay for theirs, deals can definately be had.

Thats in US dollars ? I wish they were that price here . My price is in Canadian Dollars .

The Canadian dollar hit par yesterday and is just slightly lower today. If you want that price of $54,000 in US dollars find one in the US, exchange your money into US dollars and buy it. When you bring it across the border you pay GST and/or PST if you live in a province with PST. You also pay $100 for air conditioning and a small registration fee of $40 or $50, I can't quit remember.

Therefore a $54,000 US dollar car cost is $54,000 in Canadian dollars plus 5% GST which equals $56,700 plus your $150 if you live in a province with no PST. If you have to pay PST depending on what part of the country you live in you total price is around $60,000 to $62,000 all in.

It's not rocket science, it's simple and easy to do and if anyone tells you otherwise, tell em it aint so. I don't know who's putting that extra $5,000 to $7,000 in their pockets but It sure aint you brother.

Having said all of that I think you might be hard pressed to find an 11 at invoice right off the bat but wait a little and you'll get there pretty quick.

I didn,t realize it was that easy to go x border shopping . You gotta wonder why more people who live close to the border don,t do it .

There is a little more to it then that...You still have to get a few things done here, daytime running lamps activated, child seat anchors if not equipped and a few other small things. You have to get these done within I believe 60 days and then get the car inspected.

Some dealerships will charge you like crazy because you bought a ford in the states, some flat out won't do the modifications for you and some will do it for a nominal charge. I've seen it all three ways.

Luckily Ford is one of the only companies that will honor warranties cross border. BMW and Mercedes for instance will not, if you buy a car in the states and want warranty work in Canada...forget it. That's part of the way they protect their pricing on both sides of the border.

I paid a very small premium in the grand scheme of things for my car. I got a fantastic deal on my 2011. I am willing to pay it because I'll be in my car late April/early May and with our relatively short driving season(October is garage time) I am willing to pay that small premium to get the maximum enjoyment out of my car in it's first season. When I start to factor in transporting or driving the car from the states, having the necessary mods done to it etc the difference in price really was negligible.

Ford Canada had a great deal on leftover stock last winter that lasted up until the then new '10's started showing up - coupled with dealer incentives and the taxes I saved on the discounted amount , I saved almost 15k at the time. Don't know if they'll have another fire sale on instock units before the 11's appear.

P.S. the following site will tell you everything you need to know about importing a U.S. car:

I cannot agree more with you... I did the same. Mine is also coming very soon, and I know I could have save a bit more by shopping and waiting... but as you say... our summer's too short in here !!
