Valve Cover Removal Question

Recommended Posts

When removing the valve covers on the 4.6 3V, is it necessary to remove the plug coils to facilitate removal of the valve covers? I've been considering taking my originals off and painting them Vista Blue to match the car...Are there any removal instructions???

Some time is involved in getting them off, however, very simple! Perform a search over on The Mustang Source for TacoBill how to's. He has a really nice write up on this (I'd search and provide the link if TMS wasn't being blocked at work).

I removed the coil packs, removed bolt holding dipstick tube to head, battery and battery box, etc...

I just had mine replaced with the Ford racing chrome valve covers to match my blower and ceremic coated headers. I thought about doing the blue but the chrome reminds me of the old cars with the chrome covers. Besides, they turned out very nice and i'm glad i decided to go chrome but you can certainly save a lot of money painting your own covers.Either one looks nice so you really can't go wrong. Good Luck,Ken
