New Whipple 2.9L Polished

Recommended Posts

Hey guys...I got the car back from the shop yesterday. The repair job looks fantastic...in fact, it looks better than brand new. Anyway, I pulled it into the garage and immediate began the Whipple install. Also, I added all aluminum tanks and braided steel lines and hoses. I was going for the "All Silver, Metal, and Black" look. I think it turned out really nice. It almost looks like a show-car under the hood...IMO. It was ALOT of work to do all this in about 24 hours. Here's some pics for your viewing pleasure...

Thanks everyone! I am extremely pleased with the way it came out. With the Whipple, Ford Racing Cobra Jet MAF & Throttle Body, Shelby/C&R tanks and radiator and H/E, Project 321 Coil Covers, and all the other bling under the hood...I probably got about $10,000 invested. Now that's just under the hood! I got PLENTY more invested in it with the brakes, wheels & tires, suspension, etc. I'M BROKE!!!!

Looks terrific!

Two questions concerning the steel braid; are these covers or actual steel braided lines? If they are covers you did a great job installing them, if they are real steel hoses where did you find them?

Thanks for posting these pics. I thought the polished versions of the Whipple would look more like the polished Maggies but it doesnt. Whipple seems to just get down with a micro polisher where as Maggie looks chromed with some sort of clear coat. The polished Whipple looks like its gonna take alot of work to stay looking as good as it does new where as the Maggie seems to have a clear coat that always looks good and shinny.

I bring this up because I dont want to put a black supercharger on top of my 2011 motor and was looking at polished versions. Now I may have the whipple painted silver just to keep me from cleaning it everytime I get back from a drive. I remember seeing a really nice polished whipple on a FGT maybe it was chromed?

Great work :)

I'm curious. As I've said before, I plan on going with the 2.9L Polished Whipple FRPP version in my 2010 GT500.

I was thinking that the best price would be from Tousley Ford.

Can I ask where you bought yours, and what JUST the Whipple kit cost you? Not with installation, I plan on doing that myself. Just the supercharger kit (IF yours is the FRPP version).

Thanks,

Phill Pollard

Phil...I did ALL the work on my car...as I said before, I turn my own wrenches cool.gif I got the Whipple kit (stand alone) for $3800.00 from Lethal Performance. I might not have gotten the very best price on Earth, but I feel like I got a fair deal and I'm VERY happy to do business with Jared @ Lethal Performance because he is extremely helpful and just an all-around nice guy. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING BUSINESS WITH WWW.LETHALPERFORMANCE.COM !!!!

Any pics of your new front end? ...just curious to see the before and after comparison. And I take it that your wheels made it through the accident unaffected?

I will post some pictures of the new front end tomorrow. And yes, the wheels made it through the accident without any damage...Thank God.

Looks great. Were you able to just cut stock braided line and replace all those lines, did you need any special fittings on anything? Any issues with any particular piece? Thanks

I purchased alot of braided hoses/lines in different diameters, and I got a bunch of anodized aluminum AN fittings/hose ends. I then cut them to size. On some things, I wrapped the stock hoses in braided steel myself and then re-installed them on the car. Also, some of the lines you see in the pictures are covered with chrome convoluted tubing. Instead of leaving them black (which is stock), I changed it to chrome to complete the look. I wish you guys could see it in person...cuz it looks awesome! I had no problems doing all this...everything worked out fine without issues. Thanks for the compliments everyone!

^Which of those steel braided lines are real hoses and which are covers?

All the ones you see are real. The ones that I covered are the lower hoses (down bottom in the engine compartment). You can't really see the ones I covered in the pictures. Let me tell ya, these large diameter hoses are NOT cheap.
