GT500 rolls
I've been reviewing threads and video clips of various exhaust upgrades for my 2010. After seeing the 2011 Shelby video froom Ford and hearing that exaust I am going to consider this for an upgrade. I believe the exhaust went from 2.5 to 2.75 inches, assuming this is from the manifold to the cats and then all the way back along with a new x pipe and mufflers. I like the sound of the KR mufflers added to the 2010 stock exhaust as a likely choice if the 2011 full exhaust swap doesn't make sense for some reason or is beyond what I want to pay for the upgrade. The bigger size seems to make for a deeper sound, I'm looking forward to hearing one in person as soon as they show up around in my area. Anyone know about the 2011 exhaust differences to the 2010's or have a link to the info? Thanks -

Thanks - i was thinking of doing the same thing. 2.75 seems like it may be the best of both worlds (bigger than 2.5" = better flow, little smaller than 3" = not as much back pressure loss) hopefully my corsa extremes will arrive soon. I knew I wasn't going to be the only person thinking of this. Guess we will have to wait for several months till the '11's are released and parts are available before we can even price out the individual pieces. Could just go to a muffler shop and have them make a 2.75" exhaust but you would have to get different cats which I'm sure are available in that size - not sure of muffler availability though for that size. Once the car comes out vendors will start bringing those to market though.

SVTSnake
The '11 is 2.75" with an H-Pipe. No longer uses an X-pipe. Ask new TS member TheSeeker to verify, there are other '11 owners on this site I just don't remember who they are. But I am fairly certain it has the H and not the X. JWG223
I am not a GT500 owner but I have looked underneath an '11 and saw an H-pipe.
GOTVENOMGT500
I don't have a 11 yet either but have seen them at the dealer 2010 X pipe & 2011 H pipe
axo250
I have a 2011 and yes they are H-pipes and 2.75" diameter. They look sweet when underneath the car.
GT500 rolls
Sounds like this becomes an option then for 2010's and earlier in addition to the 3" set ups and headers with high flow cats. Anyone think that just swapping the X for an H in a stock 2010 exhaust would make it sound deeper or otherwise change the sound?

Anyone think that just swapping the X for an H in a stock 2010 exhaust would make it sound deeper or otherwise change the sound? 2 suggestions--i too researched putting new exhausts and arrived at the conclusion at the time of putting Corsas extreme.I told my friends and they thought i was nuts--that the sound from my exhaust was great. So i had a very good friend drive my car, going thru the gears, while i stood by--i agreed the sound was great. The Ford engineers, engineered the exhaust to throw the sound bacwards,so you really dont hear it in the car--you might do that first before you buy--and if you do still want to buy, listen to a corsa--no drone and loud

The Corsa was to quiet. I will have a 2011 this saturday and I am going to compare the o2 sensor locations and cat monitor, mounting bracket locations to see if they are the same. Already know that the exhaust manifolds are the same on a 2007- 2011 and If it looks like it will work I plan to order a 2011 h pipe and try it out. For now just going to enlarge the mid pipes from 2.5 to 2.75.

Rag Top Day
did you have the corsa xtreme? No I did not. I understand they are a bit louder. Sure miss those Corsa tips, the KR tips are not that nice looking but the KR's sure sound good.

Hey, Do you work out at the Space Center? I have a good friend out there. I thought the X pipe was suposed to be better than the H? Why did FORD go back to the H? henrycp
I have the "KR" exhaust, M-5230-SA. It will NOT fit the 2011. I tried to install last night and the pipe is smaller (i.e. 2.5" vs. 2.75") and the hangers are in different locations. I hope Ford produces a 2011 version because I really love that sound. The stock '11 exhaust is great though. Any 2010 owners interested in purchasing the M-5230-SA's from me? PM if interested.

axo250
I have always been under the impression the H pipe gives the better tone. I know the 2011 has a great tone from the factory. I was interested in the Roush exhaust until I actually got my car. I'm very pleased with the factory exhaust. Yes I work out at KSC.
Colleton
I had KRs on my 2009 and loved them, but I'm really digging the stock 2011 exhaust sound. Not planning on changing them out at this time.

GT500 rolls
Pulled the trigger on KR, M-5320 SA mufflers. Took me about an hour to swap them out, would have taken less but was changing the oil while it was up on the lift too. Man, what a difference, I really love the sound and the cold start up sounds incredible. I'm a kid, what can I say! Keeping it under 2k rpms around town isn't that easy but they are nearly quiet if you do that. My neighbors appreciate me not blasting down the road in one of my "loud" cars as they say. 3k rpms and above really sound great, this makes the GT500 an absolutely different experience. Decided against the larger (2011 or aftermarket full) exhaust, cost and time involved with swapping it out made the decision for me. I like the 2011 sound but the KRs while different are better in terms of more old school sound IMO. Keeping below 2k rpms makes it so I can drive without the extra music (decibels) if I need to. CJ Pony Parts had them for $614 and free shipping, then the week after I bought them they were $589 with free shipping. Still a good deal. The flanges and set up make the swap an absolute no brainer, really lined up well too. Got it to sit right the first time with no re-adjustment. Just lucky I guess.
