IASHELBYGT
Hey guys (and gals) I need some help. I'm in the process of having my 20 inch CS66 wheels (20 x 9 front, 20 x 10 rear) and the Baer big brakes installed at the same time. The fronts clear no problem but the backspacing is less on the rear wheels and I'm having clearance issues over the brakes. The rear wheels do not clear the brakes by probably an 1/8", maybe less. I'm kind of ticked because I asked about 20 times to make sure these wheels clear the big brakes and was told they did with no problem. The brakes I put on the rears are the Baer Eradispeed +2 set up http://www.shelbystore.com/product-p/pbbs-2262019.htm. This is basically upgraded 14" rotors with a relocation kit for the factory calipers. I'm not opposed to spacers but was advised not to use them if possible. I have a call into CS Wheel Co. and Daren thinks they can help, but was wondering if any of you had any suggestions or tech advice. Thanks, Dave
2007_Shelby_GT
I'm thinking that spacers would be the cheapest/quickest fix, though, like you, I'm not a huge fan. Spacers would probably be just fine for everyday street use, especially since they would be only a 1/2 inch or less, but I might be a bit concerned if I was at the track. Another consideration is clearance with your wheel well, i.e., rubbing due to suspension travel. Perhaps CS or another party can work out a trade for a different backspace, heck, you might even find someone on the forum! Good luck! (Nice looking SGT by the way, WHITE is the best color!) jmn444
that's weird, I thought all the CS wheels were made to clear the bigger brakes.
IASHELBYGT
that's weird, I thought all the CS wheels were made to clear the bigger brakes. Me too - I'm working with Daren at CS Wheels but no solution yet. The rear wheels are deep dish so less clearance than the fronts. I don't need much extra space, maybe less than 1/8th". In fact only one of the calipers rub and when my tire guy swapped the rear wheels side to side it didn't rub with the other wheel, so it kind of makes me think maybe I've got a little different casting issue on one of the wheels? My options right now look like to grind down the caliper or get a 1/8th spacer to get clearance. I see Maximum Motor Sports sells one so I may order one from them if nothing else works. I have to say the new wheels and big brake combo look awesome on the car and it's killing me not to be able to drive it right now. I'll post pictures as soon as things get resolved. EL SHELBY
You have a bad wheel if it the other wheel clears on both sides. A spacer wouldnt be a big deal if you also went with longer studs on the axle. My quess is you would never have anything to worry about with a spacer if its less the 1/8 but my concern would be about what else is wrong with that wheel if it's offset is just slightly off spec. Not all CS wheels will clear big brakes, in fact some models cannot fit at all as they don't offer them in an offset that allows for big brakes such as the CS67.
