Ford Racing clutch fluid line upgrade

Recommended Posts

This is just a heads up for anyone tracking their Mustang, SGT, GT500, etc. Ford Racing now offers a clutch fluid upgrade from the cheesy plastic line that comes standard on all models. Thanks to Frank (devildog) for the part #.

Dang proud of that....

Wasn't trying to be snotty. I worked with Ron trying to diagnose our clutch issues as he and I have been through about 6-8 clutches combined while racing our cars. The hydraulic clutch system we have is the weak link when tracking the car or hot lapping it at the strip. The fluid in the line/slave unit boils and lets the clutch stay engaged which results in a short life span and lots of $$. The best fix so far IMO is this line and a slave unit that you can bleed externally, plus DOT 4 synthetic fluid that has a higher temp. The ZO6 Vette experiences similar issues.

Just trying to save my brothers and sisters some $$$ based on my experience.

^I think he just meant that since it's more expensive than FRPP list, they must be 'dang proud of' the clutch line. ;)

yes they are! I re-read my comment and thought maybe I came off a little rude. I love this site. It is good to share what works and what doesn't.

My wife has taken to calling the car "Shelby" and that "she" is my girlfriend and I spend more money on "Shelby" than her !!!!

Andrew

LOL, my wife hissed when she walked by "my other girlfriend" as she puts it.

We went to the Shelby Musuem etc a few weeks back and my 9 year old son told me I needed to buy a new GT 350. I told him I needed him to make sure and tell mom that we needed one. Everyone around laughed, except for my wife?

Its all relative...I think the cars are a great value for what you get, but the part seems exspensive to me compared to other SS lines I have bought in the past...is what it is...it is a cool part thats for sure...
