tpenziner
Hello all, new to the forum. I just ordered my 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 Coupe w/ the Perf, tech. and glass roof. tpenziner
MSRP to ~2K under MSRP seems to be the norm. A few have paid less. I've never paid MSRP on any car... I'm a littel nervious about taking a beating on the purchace price. Just looking at past 07-10 Mustang Shelby GT500 sales and values now, its not promissing on the resale values of these car. Whats everyone think? Is a 11' a good investment?
Alansvt
None of these cars have been a sound investment..... Maybe a Super Snake would be a great investment....But a reg gt500 in my eyes not so much.

The coupe has a $4650 mark up from invoice to MSRP and the COnv. has $5196 diff. from invoice to MSRP - I feel like the dealers are screwing the buyers big time, not to mention the hold back dealers get under invoice. Once you drive these off the lot, the drop $3-5k in value, over the 1st year $10k, 2nd years $15-$20k… tossing your $ away is one way tot look at it, but that goes for any car, but at least you’re not paying MSRP… Thoughts? William Rodgers
Its a car, not an investment. I would not pay MSRP or close to it, I would continue to offer $500 over invoice until a dealer takes it, that is more than fair, like someone else said they also get the holdback. AgentIan
youd be better offputting money into real estate. Are you sure about that Bob?..........wish my real estate had only suffered the same rate of depreciation as my Shelby.

ChrisSD
Has anyone found a dealer in MA that has taken off MSRP? Every dealer wont take anything off... Why would they offer discounts and incentives PRIOR to the landing of the very first car? That would be foolish.
ChrisSD
The better car will be an SVT package car with the base trim's wheels and better tires. They can keep the 9 lbs weight loss from the rear rims.

tpenziner
Not that I have found, that is why I am waiting, let me know if you find one! Herb Chambers Ford Westboro, MA, they gave a price of $1500 under invoice, I brought that back to the dealer I ordered mine from and they gave it to me. Feel allot better now that I got something off MSRP... put it towards the 6.25% sales tax! Dealers are saying Ford is taking orders but it coulds take up to 3 month... Michael Morris
I have one coming. Silver with SVT, electronics and Glass Roof. Until I know how many GT500s Im getting this year Im staying with MSRP! I dont think MSPR is screwing anyone! But of course Im on the selling side! In 07-08 it was completely fair to sell a GT500 at MSRP. Now its to much? MM

I'm not a dealer!! But, if a consumer wants a product and the seller has one for sell and the two get together in agreement on price, how is anybody getting screwed?? If a buyer chooses not to educate himself and shop around, how is that the dealers fault?? It's called free market and you better enjoy it for what we have left of it!! My $.02 worth. If a buyer chooses not to educate himself and shop around, how is that the dealers fault?? It's called free market and you better enjoy it for what we have left of it!! My $.02 worth. If you're a consumer, then one would think that getting the best bang for your buck is a priority when spending this amount of money. Dealers love people that pay MSRP, more $ in their pockets, I on the other hand like to see the dealer make his $, I get the fact that they have overhead etc.. but I'm not going to give my hard earned $ away without getting the best price possible. I'm all about saving a few thousand when I can, so yes when you pay MSRP for any car of this caliber, you are getting screwed in “my eyes” by greedy dealers. Dealers need to be in the business of selling cars and getting return customers, not by taking advantage of them on certain models like this. Lets face it, next year there will be another Mustang GT500 that everyone wants, these will be on Ebay for thousands less MSRP just like the 10’s… None of these cars are an investment, they are for fun and hobby… you lose $10k off the value in the 1st year, why not try to keep some of that in your pocket for another toy! “unless you have disposable cash, then ignore this and pay your MSRP!” : ) All in good fun… at the end of the day, do what makes you feel good about buying your Shelby or any car for that matter. Ezareth
Just got preapproved from my bank for a fully loaded 2011 'vert but no chance I'm paying sticker, if I find a dealer willing to take 2K off I'll buy but until then I'll wait until next year if I have to. These cars have way too much markup from the factory. Bought a '99 Cobra 'vert on the A plan for just under 28K, 11 years later the price has more than doubled? Granted they aren't the same but the price is getting out of hand. I'm tempted to go for a Z06 but my whole family works/retired from Ford so I stick with the brand. First THANKS for being loyal to Ford!! Believe it or not Ford reads these posts!! I have been contacted a few times from Ford folks asking me to fix this or that! Good luck on finding an 11 GT500. You will love the car. If you look and shop hard enough Im sure you can find a car for the price you want to pay. MM

In retrospect - If I would have a chance to do it all over again - I would have waited til this year to get a 2010 model. Some new ones still out there at much better prices and I would be fine with purchasing a used one with less than 5,000 miles on the clock. That's my one regret - paying sticker....but I fell to the compulsion of "Got to have it now!". Plus, at this point last year...I had no knowledge of the Shelbys - so I didn't have that foresight at my disposal. Still love the car however! And I'm super - thrilled with it on a daily basis!
