SVT PP lowers car how much?

I know I read somewhere that the SVT Performance pack does lower the car but after looking at many pics of the new 2011 and the factory 2010, the ride height looks exactly the same.

Do you think Ford is misrepresenting and just lowered compared to the stock V6 or GT?

My dealer is ready to take my order but I really would like to know this because my main reason for the SVT PP is the lowered ride height.

They say the SVT PP gets a unique gurney flap spoiler but everyone can see in the pics it is the same spoiler on the 2010 and I highly doubt the standard 2011 will not come with one.

I guess I am just worried about what all this "unique" parts within the SVT PP really mean and if it is compared to a standard GT500 or what.

Lastly, do we know if the 2011 SVT PP cars going around the auto circuit right now are just show cars and perhaps the 2011 when it is released later this spring will look different.

All of this makes sense to me but I'm sure most are reading this scratching their head

thx for any assistance

Looks like the Ford lit. states 11 mm front, and 8mm rear. probably compared to a non svt car? but who knows.....keep in mind that the svt rear tire is about one in taller than the standard gt500. The 3.73 was mandated to compensate for the taller tire. I thought about svt for ours but decided against it.

SVT package to us, (our .02) would be a wider rear tire and wheel combo with similar diameter to the standard GT, now add a 3.73 that would shorten the overall gearing and improve acceleration. This would be coupled with a bit firmer lowering springs, and Brembos front and REAR......(handle better, accelerate better, stop better)............but hey, why ask too much.

edit: forgot to say, svt can spend the money on perf. parts and not the stripes, keep the traditional stripes.

I know nobody likes the thinner stripes, but I thought they said in the webcast that the stripes were a tribute to the old GT40's ?? I know you didn't really mean traditional in that sense but....

great info, I am starting to see that all the performance parts on the SVT PP really are not gaining anything because like you said, it is lowered because it was mandated by increasing the tire by 1" to a 20" diameter and I if they did not lower it, the car's ride height would be .5" taller than standard GT500. Like you said, the 373 gearing is probably closer to a 355 due to the 1" taller rear tire. Next, look at the weights of the new wheels, Ford claims they are lightweight but imagine if they were 19 all round instead of 20s in the rear. IMO the light weight wheels are there to offset the larger sizes.

So basically you are paying $3500 for some nice looking wheels and stickier tires, oh and "unique" stripes.

I am hoping I am wrong but makes a lot of sense

they do look better on the GT40 for sure........the 500 needs to maintain it's very own traditional identity.

What about the different springs and shocks?

What about the different springs and shocks?

yes the suspension is firmer, I believe Ford quotes 20% firmer springs in the front and 10 % in the back plus struts and shocks..........

Now, some would like to lower the overall ride height of the car without necessarely making it real stiff.......so can you get lowering springs, a 3.73 and front and rear brembos for $3500? I have not priced any items and would like to hear from some of the people that have moded their 2010 on costs....

I am really torn on this SVT Package

Part of me says get the regular car and add my own Eibach coil over kit for $1200 (used on the super snake) but I really like the unique and larger light weight svt package wheels. Not sure how much it costs for a nice set of aftermarket wheels and tires. I am guessing about $2000 for wheels and another $1000 for tires so $3000 right there. This is why I feel the SVT Package could be worth it because you are getting very nice light weight larger cool wheels with sticky tires, 373 gears and so on.

Ya you can see I just cant decide

With a 28" tall rear tire, what rear end ratio would that equate to with stock 27" tall tires?

I am leaning towards going with the SVT Package and just adding some Eibach prokit lowering springs (ya I dont care about a harsh ride lol)
