kaylan1521
What are the early VIN #'s out there. My car was built on June 29 and the VIN starts with 209xxx. So I am wondering of the earlier cars what VIN's started with. I know they don't run one after another due to the other cars on the line but if you car was built prior to June 29th what are the first three of the last six numbers? So I am wondering of the earlier cars what VIN's started with. I know they don't run one after another due to the other cars on the line but if you car was built prior to June 29th what are the first three of the last six numbers? Our very first 2007 GT500 had a VIN # of 196XXX. I remember reading that prototypes and VIP cars had VIN #'s starting in the 195XXX's. With regular V6 and GT Mustang production mixed in, it clouded the VIN # sequence, plus GT500 production ramped up to speed very slowly, so many early GT500's got VIN's in the 200XXX range and higher. We had a very early 2007 Mustang GT convertible with a 196XXX VIN # that arrived slightly before our first GT500. Keep in mind that all Mustangs (V6, GT, GT500, GT/CS, Shelby GT) all pull VIN #'s from the same sequence.

If that's the case, I'm sorry, but I had no control over the calander or the car's production date. If your issue is about date accuracy, I can assure you that the date is quite accurate. I remember reading that prototypes and VIP cars had VIN #'s starting in the 195XXX's. The Barrett-Jackson tv show had a glimpse of what they implied was Ron Pratte's window sticker. It's VIN was 200002. Interesting that it is a bunch higher than your 196xxx ? I knew that Ford GTs weren't produced in VIN order, but I thought the Shelby would be closer in sequence. Hmmm. I think mine was serialized about the same time (don't have the date handy), but I know mine was produced on 6/28 - as was VNMOUS1's (BJ) - and ours were within a few numbers of each other in the 2097XX range. I had kinda assumed that the first two digits correlated to a specific week (19th week, 20th week, and so forth) but I could be wrong.

We have our 5th GT500 being built the 5th week of this month (and year, since it is January) and it's VIN ends with 303XXX. It is nowhere near the 30th week of the year. Five Oh B
500 production started on June 5th, 2006. Regular production (aka "Job 1") was scheduled to start June 5th; although I think it really started June 6th? Anyway, pilot cars, preproduction cars, test mules, VIP cars, etc. were built the month prior. A couple members here had those cars and the last six digits of the VIN have been 195XXX everytime I've seen one listed, just as sicilianjg mentioned for his car. He somehow has a VIP-type car? Not sure what VIN #'s would be considered Job 2 (when Navigation became available in December/January), but probably around 3XXXXX seems to be close (maybe a bit sooner?). We have a Job 2 GT500 scheduled to be built this month with a VIN 303XXX, but there are many earlier Job 2 VIN's floating around.
WILDTHANG
What I don't get is Ron Pratte bought car number 2. It's window sticker VIN is 200002. And Carroll Shelby got his with window sticker VIN 200013(car#?) and they recieved on them both on June 23rd. How are there numbers lower than 200000? Where is car number 1 off the line, the white one? It was not for public sale, so what has Ford done with it, anyone know? BTW mine is 213 and was built on 7-17-06 (a Monday, hopefully not by hungover workers) I have a copy of the build sheet.

Well, if Ron and Carroll both got their cars on June 23rd (the Ford system showed July for Ron's car officially, but it sounds as though he had the car in his possession before the official date shown), then they got their cars first. However, those cars do not have the lowest VIN #'s, and may not have been built first. Our very first regular production GT500 VIN # ends in 196137. I'm looking at the paperwork for it as I type this. We also had a regular production 2007 Mustang GT Convertible with a 196XXX VIN number. There are several members on this forum who indicated months ago that their VIN's were lower than 200000, as well.
