Actual weight of Glass Roof option

I love the new glass roof, have one on our 2010 v6, but would like to know actually how much weight it adds if any ?

Someone at Griggs I thought said it weighed less?

Does it reduce the rigidity of the body?

Obviously probably not the best idea for an all out race car but for the street, seems ok?

Structurally glass is pretty dang strong. In fact in newer cars the bonded glass is engineered to increase rigidity acording to something I read in a magazine...

I worked for some pretty major glass artists in the past and the stuff glass can do is amazing...it is way stronger than you might think. Its not light however.

In a roll over I'd bet youd be picking small saftey glass frgments out of your race suit as well. Adding weight at the highest point on the car cannot be the optimum setup, but it sure looks cool.

A glass roof on a muscle car? No thanks! That's what convertibles are for. Now, if Ford had included a simple "old school" metal retractable sun roof... then you'd have a great option that offered safety, minimal weight gain and a view.
