BLACK STRIPES QUESTION ON CLEANING

The black stripes on my silver GT500 are no glossy and was wondering what is typically used to clean these and or wax? Looks like if you tried to wax them it would leave white on the stripe or do something to the color. Waxing up to the stripe and not on it makes little sense because you would still end up getting something on them. Thanks

I'm sure others can give some tips but I've heard the best thing is regular ole shop and water. You don't want to use wax as it may damage the stripes as they are decals as I recall.

ive used the Liquid Ice product, i think by Turtle Wax, and it doesnt leave any build up.Also used the Meguiars Final Inspection detail spray as well

just use the Meguiars quick detailer spray on my stripes and it works great.

You can wax them just stay off the edges. I use Showcar detail spray and it works fantastic.

 

Another hint..if you get deep water spots use a 50/50 mix of vinegar and distilled water. Takes them right out.

I use the "Turtle wax Black Box" package. The "Black" detail spray works wonders.

If you tape the edges, you can use a finishing polish and wax applied with a power polisher (porter cable or pep boys brand). By taping the edges, you avoid accidentally pulling up an edge when moving the polisher back and forth. It also keeps wax off the edge of the decals. The oils in the polish will give the decals a glossy look and wax will seal in that glossy look
