Dash applique - use carbon fiber look?

Not a real exciting topic...it won't add any power or racing performance My SGT does not have the Interior Upgrade Package (IUP). I was able to add the gauge pod upgrade shortly after purchase (mostly for the message center and additional gauges). The plain black dash is kind of bland and I like the look of the dark charcoal IUP dash. I've been googling a bit and found the following link:

Also, Saleen sells a carbon fiber applique package on their web site and there are probably others available. Saleen's is a full package including dash, radio center stack, console, door trim pieces, etc. I'm not sure I want to go that far. Bittrim breaks down the kits better so you don't have to purchase everything.

 

Has anyone used any of these kits? If so how do they look? Obviously I don't want cheesy. What would come closest to the dark charcoal IUP dash? Carbon fiber I guess but it's hard to compare using online pictures.

 

The other option is to get the factory pieces from Ford but I assume the cost is outrageous.

I am in the same boat as you and want to do something different with my dash. Have you checked out Silverhorse Racing?

rush_junky: Thanks for the ebay site. It may come in handy for other items as well. They do have a used woven charcoal dash available, taken from an '08 GT. Price is ok at $179 but condition is iffy. I've emailed for more info. The only downside to OEM parts is the installation. I'm not sure how difficult it will be to take the dash apart.

 

LGSchmidtJr: I looked at Silverhorse's kits. Personally, I only want the upper dash, not everything else. The picture of the carbon fiber does look pretty good though.
