sudden
I was noticing that the 07-09 Shelby gt 500 owners have been pretty quite about the 2011? So what do you all think? Well I will start it off buy saying, mine is paid for! I like the older styling better and the power addition is not really that much more on the old ones. But I do like the fact that you can get an upgrade when ordering. I also like the wheels. I am a little worried about the spray on cylinder coating. We will have to see if it holds up or not. SUDDEN. GT500_Grad
Are you referring to the options or changes made to the 2011? I haven't heard much about the GT500 2011's. could you fill me in or point me in the right direction to get caught up quickly? The only thing I've heard about the 2011s, is the GT350 and I really like it.

Son of GT
I am extreemly happy and content with my 2007, and I am also very, very, happy that it's a Super Snake too. But having said that, I absolutely LOVE the 2011 500 and would buy one in a heartbeat, and those folks that are going to buy one without the SVT package are making a rather large mistake in my opinion. Concerns about the SVT package's harsh ride are unfounded, and the aluminum spray bore block is top notch too. SVT has been working on (refining) the 2011 MY 500 for over two years now, and the men and women at SVT who worked on the project are not stupid asses who just fell off of the turnip truck. One thing's for sure, they know a great deal more about the engineering of the car than those closed minded, uninformed, naysayers who have their own agendas to dump on the car, the package, and the engine (block). The 2011 GT500 with or without the SVT package is a FANTASTIC car, but ordering one with the package makes it the ULTIMATE (stock, factory equipped) GT500. The only thing I've heard about the 2011s, is the GT350 and I really like it. - 550hp - Aluminum block saves 102 lbs - electric power steering - SVT Performance Pack (skinny stripes, staggered lightweight wheels, suspension, 3.73s) - 23/15 mpg - improved brake cooling - better clutch petal effort - NVH improvements (road noise down 20%) - convertible stiffness increased 12% - improved exhaust with better sound and performance (2.75") - optional glass roof - improved glass with UV protection and quieter - HID standard - My Key - spotter mirror - fold-down rear headrests Autoweek article w/ pics: http://www.autoweek....2#ixzz0eyuAp2bf YouTube sneak peek: The new technological improvements are sounding very nice while being lighter and faster! This should be the most comfortable, high tech, best performing and handling mustang in a stock form that Ford has produced. It should compete nicely with a Z28 if GM ever releases one. I love the blue valve covers with the engine builders tag. Freakin' awesome! I would love to know if any of the new convertible bracing will work on my '07. That exhaust is sounding cool (no pun intended) Wondering if that can be used as well. With that said, it still has that 2010 ugly butt and what is up with the skinny stripes on that SVT performance pack? My wife says they look wimpy. I am not so sure about the wheels on that package either. I am not sure I like the staggered look. Anybody like this package? I am not sure if I would order it. Overall I am still lovin my '07 40th Anniversary GT500 which is the best looking design yet produced! Now if I had an extra $55K sitting around I would be all over a 2011 but I don't want to give up my '07.
chuckstang
I love my 2007 minus the clutch thing. I do not care for the looks of the new cars and that is the only thing keeping me from ordering a 2011. The looks on the 07-09 is classic. The new ones will be dated quickly and I do not care for the uniform hood and front bumper. But I think I will end up with a 2011, it is just a huge leap forward in everything
mike
Just like the 2010. From the rear tires forward I love the car, inside and out. The extra options, wonderful. They have to do something to keep it fresh and keep people interested. I just hate the rear end of this body.
MustangSal500
I love my 07 and i wouldn't change it, except for supersnaking it, but i love the new 2011. I like the performance features and options but the only knock i have on the 2011 is the stripes, who thought skinny stripes looked good? but thats an easy fix(stripe delete) but overall i think the car is great. bpodner
Two words, butt ugly, literally. I love my 2009 and the reason I bought it was because the spy photos of the 2010 were out. If I had an extra $55K I would pick up another '07-'09 and dump the remaining ($15-20K) into mods. That would let me "keep up" with the 2011s. NICK82
The new GT500 is awesome. I do prefer my bodystyle so i'm going to keep my 2008, but I could see myself swapping out for an alluminum block in 5-10 years. What is nice about all these new Shelby's from 2007-2011 is the bodystyle is timeless. In 10 years these will all still be distinctively good looking Shelbys. Try saying that for something like today's Audi R8 in 10 years and chances are it looks like dated space-age krap.
William Rodgers
I love the 2011, it actually is good enough to have me think about selling the Shelby GT/SC for one. I am more than likely not going to do it, I have made this mine and continue to mod the crap out of it. I would never get rid of it for a 2007-2009 model, just my opinion. Rag Top Day
Love my 2008. All of the new tech on the 2011 is great! Wish I could put it on mine. Especially the supercharger cooler. Having driven the 2010's I must say I like the interior feel of the 07-09. The new nav and sync are great but it just doesn't have the mum this really feels nice interior of the 07 -09's. On top of that the styling and the back end of the car just do not work for me! Then there is the price of almost 60k for a fully loaded one, ouch. Mine is lookin better and better. jnf
I love my 07. Wouldn't change it exept to SS it. The 2011 is nice and I like all of the improvements, but I wouldn't trade the 07 for an 11. Maybe park an 11 next to the 07.
SicShelby
I think that it's great that Shelby is continuing to do amazing things with the GT500. The 2011 is going to be hands DOWN, a very nice, refined, and remarkable car. That said... there is still an amount of "charisma" that the '07 to '09's possess, and maybe that's because it was the first 500 in the new body style. So, the 2011 could be faster, handle better, look better, pick up more chicks, whatever, and I'll still keep my 2008. Minus the chicks perhaps. Lol I'm married anyhow, what the heck does it matter? So again, hats off to SAI to continuing to do great things, but I'll take the '07-'09 style.
Seahorse
I like the new '11's overall, but there are a couple niggles I don't like. First is the striping on the PP models - too narrow, but not a real biggie and relatively easliy "fixed" if you want. But with the PP mentioned, personally I don't think it's worth the extra coin - now that's with just what I've read, maybe when they get out and people can value it first hand where the rubber meets the road so to speak it could become a must have. But right now, I don't see the value in it honestly. So the 2011 is a nice evolution of the Shelby for sure, but I really don't feel the need to unload my '09 to pick one up. Nice cars, but so is the the one already parked in my garage.
kahmann
Other than the skinny stripes, the SVT packaged '11 looks like one hell of a car. Ken
DDT
I am happy with everything about my car........The interior and exterior styleing is the best and it has plenty enough HP for me to get in trouble........ Now if I could easily upgrade my car with all the performance improvements from the 2011 GT500 would be nice...........
SVTpower
I'll be honest here............the 2010's grew on me...........even the rear........well almost. The 2011 have not yet, like most of it except the stripes and the glass roof.........I still stand by what I said, block for weight savings was put in for a reason, this car will still be heavy, maybe more. when you start adding more sound deadening etc....and claim car is quieter, well there's a reason Since you mentioned yours, I'll mention mine. Mine is paid complete including the expensive wheels/tires and all my mods that I did and my Evo visit in PA.........so yes, I'm proud of it, and no stock or mildly modded 2011 will get near mine ) ...........and they are getting expensive........it's still a Ford, and don't throw this Shelby line at me, remember in 2007 " will be a 2 year, maybe 3 year car" yeah right, not falling for that b.s. again, now here we are in the 5th year and that name is still on it !!!! ..........I know my next toy will be a mint, low kms red Z06 and even this 2011 will struggle with the stock Z
txcobra
Like many have said, I am really glad Ford continues to focus on improving performance, but there is just no beating the looks of the 07-09 IMO. I would still much rather have the 07-09 Body and mod it. Also, why are the stripes so skinny? Looks a bit odd.
FiaCobra
I like the 2011 but, I now have a KR. They don't call it "King of the Road" for nothing. The car is a beast and has "sex on wheels" written all over it. I'll keep my KR and appreciate the 2011 model from a distance.

Rarecat
I perfer the styling of the 07-09, the 10-11 are a bit "over the top" in the looks department for my taste. I do wish my 08 had the 11 dash/console & drivetrain but even those upgrades are not enough to get me over the exterior looks. Strictly a perference opinion..... Grabber
I think that Ford / SVT did a great job on the 2011 GT500. It looks like *they* deserve all the credit on that one. I say that after watching all the videos from the Feb. 8th introduction. The SVT package is very sweet IMO and would be a "must have" for me. My 2007 GT500 is such a fun car to drive and own. The looks of the 2007 - 2009 body style is a statement that most cars can not make. Just plain old "Cool" !!! I have alot of my heart and soul poured out into my car and the passion for driving it will not end anytime soon. I seem to enjoy the car even more...now that's it's paid for, and I'm not talking about a home equity loan or 401K cash. It's truly mine. I'm very poud to own it. I'm hoping that a local guy in my area buys a 2011 so I can look at it and enjoy it. Maybe even help do some mods to it. I enjoy being with friends and driving these cars and modifying them. I don't plan on buying a 2011, but when my wifes Escape needs to be replaced in a couple years...I have a feeling it will be replaced with Stang. Stephen Takach
I li ke the 2011......well except for the rear end. Ford continues to refine the car I just don't know that is worth $55K. I have a 2008 GT500 I've half-heartedly had for sale and best offer I've had is $35K to $36K. I wouldn't pay the extra $20K for an 2011........I just don't see that much of a difference. I'm also a little afraid of the new aluminum block. I don't think Ford has really ever resolved all the clutch issues. If you own an '07 or '08 its just kind of a wait and see what happens. You could have the same problem with the new block. Lets hope not. SVT

Anyway it was better than loosing it in the Market Crash???????? We all make different decisions and have different goals. My 401K has gained back almost all of it's losses. I'm keeping it for the long haul. I no longer put money into it, but it has been fun watching it make back its losses. My next goal is to pay off my house no later that 2015 when I retire. I can't achieve my goal if I borrow money on it.
