2011 GT500 Convertible Suspension SVT Package

Does any body know what the suspension of the SVT package will be like in a convertible? Will it be too stiff, and make the car shake going down a city street?

Also, the order sheet that shows the colors and striping is very confusing. From what I can interpret from it, with the SVT package the only striping you can have is either white, red or none. Black, Silver & Grabber Blue stripes are not available with the SVT package. Does anyone interpret the order sheet differently? I saw the Kona Blue mock up; are there any pictures of the other colors?

I read somewhere that there will not be a 2011 GT500 at either Chicago or New York Auto Shows; just at the Toronto Auto Hall of Fame Show. Is that true?

I want to place an order this week for a convertible, but I'm concerned about the Striping and suspension with the SVT package. So, I'm looking for advice.

Thank you!

Looks to me you have interpreted it correctly. I wanted a Kona Blue vert with white stripes and the SVT package. Can't do it though. I do not like the idea of red stripes on the Kona Blue either. So I ordered it without the SVT package.

Someone posted the idea of ording the car with the SVT package and stripes, and using the existing stripes as a template to put the colored stripes that you want on the car. I think that's what I'm going to do.

I was not crazy about the wheels either (like them, don't love them), so unless you love the wheels consider what I'm doing. I ordered the vert the way I wanted it and will be installing the FR3 Handling Pack at delivery. I won't get the "unique" stripes, wing or shift ball or those wheels but look at the price difference. MSRP for the SVT Perf Pack is $3,495 but the FR3 Handing Pack MSRP is $1,695. At most $300 to install (assuming just a 3 hour job) so it's $2k, compared to $3,495. The Perf Pack is just springs to, while the handling pack adds adj dampers, anti-roll bars and strut brace. I'll make my car "unique" in other was for the price difference, and get it in the color/stripe combo that I want.

Does the handling pack (fr3) include the upgraded tires too? Do you know when Ford will release the first round of 2011 GT500 allocations to dealerships?

No, the handling pack is just springs, dampers, anti-roll bars and strut tower brace. I'm not sure what you mean by "upgraded tires". I'm not positive but would bet the tires that come with the SVT Perf Pack are the same Goodyear model (F1 Supercar) that goes on the stock 19" rim, just a different size, so I would not consider it an upgrade.

No info on 2011 allocations yet. My Dealers Ford rep will be at the Dealership on Thursday and he will see what he can find out. I know he will get at least on and I already have my DORA so I know I will be getting one happy%20feet.gif

Hey, my friend Bob just found a video on Ford's website of the 2011 Shelby GT500 coupe Red with the white stripe SVT package and glass roof! The new stipe is narrower. Check it out http://www.fordmedialive.com/shelby/system_test.php# At the bottom of the page click on Supplemental Test video it will be a better quality video that is on the page!

You are forgetting that SVT Performance Package also comes with the 3:73 set of gears vs. the standard 3:55's, so you have to figure in the cost of those gears and installation. Its not at all $2k compared to $3,495

  • 1 year later...

3.55 gears to 3.73 isnt much lower... Honestly I saw a quarter mile race with one having one set and one having the other... Believe me don't make a difference. You wouldn't even know the difference. Now 4.10's? Maybe but not 3.73.... The package is a joke and the stripes look retarded..
