rdragoo
I use it, no problems. I use it too. Meets the ford spec, and easy to find.
Light66
No comments on Castrol Syntec 5W-50 ? How does it measure up ? I have been using it since the beginning. I see no adverse affects in using this oil. Would recommend it to any GT500 owner.
ItalianStallion
Great. Thanks for the input. Since the beginning, I have been using the Syntec 5W-50 as well...no problems. IS
esc
So besides the debate over whether the correct weight, 5W-50 is available (it is, you just have to look harder), what about the Mobil 1 does not meet the Ford Specifications? DutchGT500
I don't care. Mobil 1 has proven itself. Castrol same thing.
dukenrock
I have a boat with twin 525's. The recommended oil for the engine was a Mobil1 20W50. I changed the oil after no more than 25 hours. I can't find the Mobil 1 20W50 anymore so I started using Royal Purple. (Recommendations by the members of the boat forum) Anybody ever use that in their cars??
DutchGT500
I have heard good stories about Royal Purple synthetics.
atacamadan
So besides the debate over whether the correct weight, 5W-50 is available (it is, you just have to look harder), what about the Mobil 1 does not meet the Ford Specifications? Castrol has a 10-60W synthetic too that I recall some owners in Europe were using. If I understand this right, the 10-60W might be Ok especially if you drive in hotter climates. Any comments on that? SicShelby
So what happened to the Mobil 1 discussion?
atacamadan
So what happened to the Mobil 1 discussion? Just replying with 2c as others were talking about Roush/Valvoline, Castrol, Royal Purple etc...
SmellSoGood
I use Mobil 1 5w-50 & got it from the local Ford dealer who said would not void your warranty as per Ford. How would Ford ever know if you used 5w50 M1 or 5w50 Ford MC?
shel-b001
How would Ford ever know if you used 5w50 M1 or 5w50 Ford MC? Most likely from the Ford dealer paper work they have when doing the service.
supercompdad
I know that this is a very old thread but did a search and this is what came up. If the issue of Mobil1 has been resolved, I m sorry as I didn't do an in depth search. Just wanted add my $.02. I am doing an oil change on my 07 SS and am using Mobil1. Couple reasons are it was on sale at NAPA, warehouse stocked item, for a lot less than the Ford dealer charges ($5.99/qt), I don't think you need to worry about warranty issues, and it is a great high quality oil. 6-Speed
I've been using Mobil 1 5W50 for several years now without any issue ... it's a good oil. I'll have to stock up if it's on sale; I pass by a Napa every day.
