90GT
Need to find out how this was done. :happy feet: I think it looks sick and I'd love to install one on my car!!!! :hyper:
RUFDRAFT
Yeah....don't know. I'd have to see one in person. I worry now about scraping with the car lowered. And - I'd have to have mine painted black if I bought one. I don't like the pebble finish black/grey look. Like in the photo - imagine the mirrors painted silver! :happy feet:

Kevin also indicated that he didn't think that it would fit as is. Could you elaborate on if you had to modify this unit to get it to fit? I would love to get on one my ride... It's not my car so I'm not sure how the guy got it to fit like that. I've seen others who have tried but they looked like crap. This is the first install that I've seen that looks good. MustangFanatic
The splitter looks awesome, looks like it was installed from the factory!! Great find!! :happy feet:
lenko
The splitter looks awesome, looks like it was installed from the factory!! Great find!! :happy feet: I think if you got a closer photo of the install, you'd see that the splitter doesn't line up with the bottom of the bumper very well right in the center area. I could be wrong but maybe on this install the bumper was pulled out quite a bit to fit the splitter. When I installed my cobra front, I tried the splitter on the GT bumper and there was no way you could make it fit properly. Rufdraft. Yeah! you have to be careful on some of the dips in driveways, parking wheel stops, cause that splitter is pretty low. I think the cobra bumper sits a bit lower as well, so I have to be extra careful. I've had comments to lower the entire car, but that would make the splitter scrape even more. As it is it's all right and I'm learning to avoid the pitafalls. lenko
RUFDRAFT
I hear ya, lenko - I don't get anywhere near curbs. But - unfamiliar driveways, and entrances give me pause! The more I look at this pic, the more I think they attached the splitter at both ends and left a gaping space in the center - between the bumper and the splitter. The OEM bumper isn't level all the way across.
moabman
I love the way the a splitter looks on the GT. Doesn't FRPP make a similar splitter that is designed for the GT? That should solve the fit problem. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's also made of the pebblegrain plastic material and isn't intended to be painted so I guess it won't help you Ruf. I did read somewhere that one of the things that gave them a little problem with the FR500C is the lift that the stock GT front end produced at speed. The GT500 front end was specifically designed to decrease the aerodynamic lift at speed.
RUFDRAFT
Pebble paint is no problem. I had my mirrors painted. :hyper:
moabman
I was just thinking that a little front end lift might not be bad if you're going for straightline speed. Did you have the whole mirror painted Ruf or just go with the covers?
RUFDRAFT
I had the mirrors and the brackets painted. $350.

flashfearless
I had the mirrors and the brackets painted. $350. Wow, I got a quote for $200 for that. I better take them up on that... Flash - your GO is lookin' sweet! Who's the co-pilot? Thanks. I couldn't believe the weather today in the Philly region. I went topless today in the GO after giving her a quick spritz. Will be putting in the C&L w/custom 93 tune pretty soon and then going 3.73's in the rear. Still waiting for the inspiration on what kind of stiping or painting I want to do the exterior. I am picturing the GT500 splitter on it, but after reading this thread, I just might have to go CDC...even though they want too much $$ for them... RUFDRAFT
$500?! Unpainted? Yeow. I'll pass. Yeah - it was 75 here today - great weather. I'd jump on the $200 for the mirrors. The guys I went to are the "best" around here. So my buddies say. They don't "jump out" at you - like they would on a red, or white, or GO car. They sort of blend in now. I'm very pleased. :hyper:
