billet geared oil pump

Recommended Posts

I'm still trying to track down a billet geared oil pump for the 3V.

Melling has this pump #10176, but MMR says it's for the 2V and 4V - http://www.modularde...oduct_info.html

They say that the VCT of the 3V requires higher pressure than this pump will put out.

Melling just released this pump in November for the 3V and current 4V, but I doubt it has billet gears with that price tag - http://www.melling.c...f%20updated.pdf

Andrew pointed me to this gear set from TSS - http://www.triangles...od&productId=44

Is this the only real option on the market? If so, I'd still need a new pump to put these in.

Lastly, what's the difference between the GT500 oil pump and the 3V oil pump?

I just got off the phone with TSS. They were very knowledgeable and helpful.

The difference between a standard 3V pump and GT500 pump according to TSS is that SVT simply blueprints their pumps. Physically, it's the same pump.

They also told me that they know for a fact that their billet gears are the only ones on the market for a 3V (or new 4V) and that Melling hasn't released one yet.

I'm going to ship my new GT500 oil pump (from MMR) to them and have them install the gears and check everything out. They're only charging me for the gears themselves. The install and inspection is free of charge. Just wanted to pass that info along for anyone else interested in a billet geared oil pump.

Thanks again to Frank and Andrew for their help.

You'll be glad you did. The guys at TSS are great to work with and have an excellent product. We use their gears in every 3V engine we build including our twin turbo car.
