Wheels that work for Big Brake Kit

Recommended Posts

These are the 18' that I should work that I was thinking about

Now I'm starting to lean towards these - but I'm not sure of the fit

http://www.americanmuscle.com/18x9-fr500-hypercoated.html

But here is a picture that looks like they might

These 20" say they will

It looks like all these except for the 67s will fit

I was also leaning towads these except they were 20s http://www.carrollshelbywheels.com/mustang-wheels/cs40.php

Ordered the FR500 wheels.. will have the S1 for sale soon :( I love those wheels

Did you talk to someone? I hope they will work, I'm really not for sure that those will, but I hope they will because those are the ones that I want.

Uh oh, FR500 was my first choice also but I spoke with someone from American Muscle and they said it wont fit big brake kits. It was also confirmed by members of mustangforums.com. In your case, I hope they are all wrong. I really like the FR500s but the GT4 wheels look great as well so I am going with that. Please do let us know if it will fit or not.

What shelby wheels are those?! They look like the GT4 but it is a shelby. I do not see them on the shelbyperformanceparts.com. Do they have 18x10 for the rear?

At this point I am just going to buy wheels until I find the right one.. :banghead: I can returm them if i have to. I know the GT4 work. I dont really go off what they say, because if you look at the Wheels that GT500-07 have (CS56) , they state that they wont fit the GT500, yet he has the big brakes.

These are Shelby redline, they dont make them, but I found on e-bay. go to elitewheels.com

If you are speaking of these

http://www.shelbyautos.com/galleries/SSC/SSC20-1024.jpg

I don't know where Shelby is getting them, but it appears they are putting them on all their new models. It appears to be the same as the GT4. I got the picture from the Shelby SR gallery.

http://www.shelbyautos.com/gallery.asp?car=SSC

I guess if money where no object, and you wanted the real thing, you could get them here http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=7617

But that is a little out of my range.

The GT4 wheels from American Muscle will NOT fit the big brakes for the rear. (only the front) Jim Clark (Clark17357) bought a set, they didnt fit. There is a lengthy thread here about this, just to lazy to look for it.

Yeah I am talking about the wheels on the Shelby SR. NOW THOSE ARE HOT WHEELS! It is like the GT4 but it looks like they only have 18x9 for the rear. I wonder if they are the GT4 with shelby caps on them?

The ford gt wheels are way too expensive for me. If my car is a garage queen, maybe...

Did he get the Rear EXTREME brakes or the ERASPEED set?

I just dont want to have to make the move to 20" wheels. But that might be the result. I will post my trial and errors here.

Another question:

Will the Shelby Pro-Plus Brakes work with the 18"? That could be a solution. They are way less and I could send the front Extreme brakes back for these. They say they work on Shelby Gt and no mention of wheels. I will ask Robert

You know, Baer website has, or used to have, templates for all the brake systems. But the only one I can find now is the one for the Extreme Brakes. I don't see much on the Pro -Plus anymore, I would almost guess that they might be phasing them out because there use to be templates there, but not any more

Here is the one for the extreme

I found these AFTER The I purchased the FR500. These are Shelby REDLINE 18x9

Will these Clear the Big Brake? I wonder

Redline.jpg

Yes and no. The 18" will not clear, but I understand that these will in the 20". The CS8's have these wheels. I've got a set of the 18's sitting in my garage if anyone is interested! :)

I'm running the Shelby Pro-Plus 6P front set up with the 18" CS56 wheels. And if you call the CS wheel company, they should tell you that the CS56 wheel will fit the GT500.

Ok, Hope this helps everyone. The FR500 wheels DO CLEAR the Extreme front brakes. No spacer required. They are 18X9 FR500 wheels, I have attached pics to show as much as possible clereance.

Sorry for the size

OMG!! THANKS FOR SHARING THIS WITH US!! I've asked so many people and I guess they are all wrong! They do fit!! When I first saw the FR500, it was the wheel I wanted but was told it wont work with Baer Extreme. GT4 was the next in line for me but good thing I waited. Thank you so much for your updates!

The clearance on these brakes are around 1/4" from the top or bottom of caliper to the rim, and 3/4" to 1" clearance from the spoke to the face of the caliper.

I would say that if you were to add REAR Extreme, they might not work. Pads and new bigger rotors is really all you need for the rear.

I have a question: I want to buy the Shelby Plus Pro brake system for my 07 SGT. However, I am hoping that they will work with the stock black 18" rims that came with the car. Anyone know if they will work together? I asked before and all I got was a PDF print out that I was supposed to print, cut out, remove a wheel and check. I figured that asking members would be easier and faster. ;)

The only thing that is going to work with the stock wheels are the stock caliper. The clearence is pretty tight on those as it is. That's one of the only thing that's keeping me from doing a major brake upgrade - because I love the look of the stock wheels

Bummer! I was afraid that was going to be the case. I just really like the look of the stock wheels. SUCKS... Now I just have to decide what to do. New wheels and brake package- or just upgrade the rotors to the slotted and drilled and try to pretend that the stock brakes are big enough.
