JeffJ
So when I was watching the show "America's Greatest Race Car" on HD Theatre last week, I saw the Daytona's and other cobras on a car carrier that was what looked like a cut out bus. I thought, wow, that would be way cool. So I wondered what happened to this old bus. It must be destroyed by now. But then I was looking through some pictures from Cold Track Days and came across this picture. This has to be the old Shelby car carrier. However this picture is not that old as I recognize the signs which are pretty new at Laguna Seca. We need to find who ownes these cars and this bus to get it back in the hands of a Shelby owner. But obviously, who ever owns this, knows exactly what it is, so certainly would not be cheap!

Plenty of transporter photos here: Monterey 2008 It seems to me it's a cooperative that found and restored the Reventlow/Shelby transporter. There may be more history available in and around reports of the 2008 Monterey Historics. Edit: PS: I wouldn't term it "unique" in configuration, just color and trim. It's a FIAT; you can buy Old Cars 1:43 models of it in Ferrari livery and in Maserati colors, at about a hundred dollars a pop. The Pits

I was going through 2006 and 2007 photos, hadn't yet made it to 2008.

JeffJ
Here's a great history on it. What an amazing piece of racing history, and a real beauty. Wow. Looks like it's in the hands of the right person for it's original history before Shelby. http://www.automobilemag.com/features/racing/0907_don_oroscos_all_american_f1_scarab_transporter/index.html

I should have known it was Orozco who had it. Must have confused the "co-op" with the dozens of craftsmen who did the work ... Here's the owner in one of the F1 cars at Monterey 2003: And on track (well, half on track):
thewheelman
Every time I see one of those it reminds me of the description of one being "driven spiritedly" in Alistair MacLean's "The Way to Dusty Death". They were the Nascar haulers of their day.....very cool!
