GT500 Oil Leak

I have a like new 2008 GT500 coupe, only 3,700 miles. With a small, clean, oil leak underneath engine each night after use. It is coming from right rear area of engine, and drips on floor just ahead (in front of) of the right exhaust catalatic convertor. I've looked from many angles, above and below but, can't seem to see it's origin, with the tight pack of engine accessories, hoses, electrical, etc, in that area. It's not a big leak, but a leak on a farly new car. About the size of a quarter/half dollar over nite. Seems to come more after use, then just sitting around cold. Oil and filter were recently changed and double checked tightness of filter. Seal bad? It is not coming from exess oil, from oil change, dripping from frame cross member. But rather a staight fall from rear of engine area to floor. Is there an oil line back there to super charger, or other oil hose connections? An engine cover or cap to be retightened?

Any suggestions were to closer look and zero in on possible origin?

It sounds like you have an oil leak coming from the plug at the rear of the engine, I had the exact same type of oil leak that you described and and in the same spot. It turned out that the oil plug was just hand tight and was causing oil to leak after the oil would build pressure, then it would leak out very slowly, leaving a quarter size drop of oil on the ground. Take it to the dealer and tell them to check the oil plug at the rear of the engine, the reason I say TELL them to check it, is because I had three mechanics looks at it, before I had to tell them about oil plug at the rear of the engine, just because they work on our cars doesn't mean they know everything about our cars. I hope this helps you.

ELITE 1, Thx. I also noticed up in there a white sensor with 2 wires. Ford's exploded view of this engine shows it as an oil sensor, with a o-ring or gasket seal. Could be the culprit? Was your repair for an actual "plug", or could it have been of this oil sensor.

HEY MADMANMOON @ SHELBY WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THIS OIL LEAK ORIGIN?

Hey, Darksnake...

I'm not sure where you got the impression I'm with Shelby, but I'm not! :)

I actually work for the Government..."Don't worry - I'm from the Government, and I'm here to help!" :hysterical:

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with oil leaks. My only suggestion would be to take it to a reputable shop that has experience with these 5.4L motors...or, failing that, your local Ford dealer.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help! Good luck, and I hope you resolve the issue!
