To Shaker 1000 or not to Shaker??

I found a 07 GT500 Red/White Locally, they want $20K over but I think they might come down. The question is how Important is the Shaker 1000 Audio System, This car Doesn't have it? I always want all the options but this car is close. Can the 1000 Shaker be added by the dealer? Will the Shaker make a difference in Collectibilty down the road in a few years?

Not sure about dealer adding...but would likely be expensive. As for collectibility, who knows. I don't have my car yet, but I ordered the 500.....1000 takes up trunk space...and I would never listen to anything that loud anyway.

I heard the 1000 rocks. It is up to you. I got the 500 in our GT/CS and it rocks too. Factory stuff is neat and clean to me. Collectibilty - Sure factory options are a plus, history says so.

I ordered the 1000. I am excited to have the Bass sound.

I ordered mine with all options available. I seldom test the limits of the 1000 but after all, the GT 500 is about owning the most powerful Mustang ever produced to date right? So why not put all the options in, have the ability to rattle the paint off even if you never use it. The engine is the music I like to listen to. Besides, I didn't buy the Shelby to haul groceries, I bought it to show off and have fun in. The trunk aptly holds my car cover and all the cleaning supplies I need.

I ordered mine with the 1000 but Ford offered to build it in Nov if I would drop the 1000. It would have been 1st quarter 07 if I said no. I took the 500 and am adding a Blaupunkt sub to it. Worked out cheaper anyway.

The 1000 cannot be easily added to a car that came with the 500, the wiring harness is different. You can add the Sirus without too much difficulty as the harness is installed for that (with the 500, not the 1000).

If the car is available, and you can come to terms, I would take it. I have the Shaker 1000 and I hardly listen to it. It shouldn't matter beans in collectability. :shift:

What about the navigation system that will be offered for Job 2????? If I order the navigation system, the Shaker 1000 must be dropped....or that is how I understand it. I personally want both the navigation system and the Shaker 1000.

If I can I will order the Shaker 1000 and after I want to buy the navigation head unit and install. My question is to you guys is this possible? Is the wiring harness compatible with the navigation head unit?????

I would really like for someone to help me. As will most dealers they are unknowing and fill you will mindless ramblings that when you leave you with knowing less than when you arrived.............

Thanks,

Weed

I have the Shaker1000 and you can't really hear the subs in the trunk unless you get out of the car and open it. Seems like they need a port or something between the trunk and the cabin but I don't want to modify. I don't listen to that Rap $hit though so maybe that's why I don't hear the difference. If I had to do it over, I would have just gotten the Shaker500.

If you like music try to get it. My wife's GT has the 500 and the 1000 in my Shelby blows it away. I do not care about trunk space. If it will hold a car cover, wash bucket and drying towels I don't care. If you do need trunk space, fold down the back seats.

The Shaker 1000 on its own terms is not worth the money - you can buy a far superior system for the same $$. HOWEVER, it's been our experience that on high end cars like the GT500 and Ford GT, having the upgraded sound system is a plus. As for our Ford GT's, having the MacIntosh sound system makes the car more desirable even though not having it makes the car more rare, and one would think more collectible, but the opposite seems to hold true.

So, as a buyer looking for a good deal (whatever constitutes a good deal anyway), look for a GT500 without the 1000, but as a collector you should find one with the 1000. I expect that with the limited availability of the 1000 in convertibles, having one with the 1000 will bolster its future value. For the average person, I don't think it makes much difference either way.

I have the shaker 500. When putting in my sequential tail lights, I noticed a wiring harness in the back right corner. I think this is probably for if you order the shaker 1000. If this is the case, it would be easy to find one in a junk yard, install yourself and save $.

2boxers,

Is the wiring harness a pair of (R L) sound wires to the amp head unit then? Is there also a 12 volt power hook up? You could just slap your own sub in there then. Anyone know if the 1000 sub is powered or unpowered type? The salesman at the dealership said both the Shaker 500 and 1000 had 500watt output from the amp in the car and speculated the 1000 system had a 500 watt powered sub in the enclosure back there. I dont know if this is accurate. I would be surprised if they wired every car for the sub with the price of copper but maybe most get the 1000 and it is cheaper than having 2 harnesses. Seems that way in amonst the folks posting here. Most go 1000.

BTW I was on the fence with this but I ordered a 500 in the end. Skipped the serious radio as well. I figure it will weight less (subs are usually heavy) and my guess is an aftermarket sub like a Kicker would be better. It would be nice if you could just jack it into the system without having to wire it.

The connector you found behind the trim panel near the tail light is for the Sirrus sat receiver. It contains wires for rt and lt aux2 sound imputs and a connection to the medium speed data network. It think there is a 12v power wire too but its way too small for powering an amp. The cars with the 1000 get a different harness that has connections for 4 more amps in the trunk and the speaker connections. The 1000 harness deletes the sirrus connection.
