Dans07SGT
I was needing new tires so I used the opportunity to put new tires on the used wheels I've had sitting in my garage for a year now. Goodyear F1 Supercars. 285/40-18 on 18 x 10's in the back, 255/45-18 on 18 x 9's in the front. So far I really like them. A little more road noise than the stock BFG's but handling and traction is like night and day. GT center caps are on order because that M is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. clark17357
The offset you are showing on the front wheels sure looks like a 10" rather than a 9". I have never seen a 9" with that much offset. Sure looks good. Jim

Dans07SGT
Thanks everyone. love the looks of those wheels on white! It turned out better than I thought it would. I think it will look better with a some tint on the windows and I'm thinking about the black quarter window covers.
2008GT-C
Great look on the wheels. I am also not pleased with the stock rubber on my car and am looking to upgrade wheels and tires. What is your offset and back spacing on those wheels front and back? - Kevin

I am also not pleased with the stock rubber on my car and am looking to upgrade wheels and tires. What is your offset and back spacing on those wheels front and back? - Kevin Rears: Backspacing: 7.2" (184mm) Offset: +45mm (1.8") Fronts: Backspacing: 6.3" (161mm) Offset: +34mm (1.3") I've had no issues with rubbing or anything so far. The F1's are a huge improvement over the stock BFG's and aren't priced outrageously. Americas's tire matched Tire Rack's price for me.

HORSBYT
Classic look! Good job! In my extremely humble opinion, the Gooodyear F1's are the tire of choice for our cars....... BIG improvement over the BFG's!

2007_Shelby_GT
Great look! I think I just made up my mind about wheels and tires! :happy feet: Only change I will make is going with the anthracite instead of black - just my own personal preference! Did you buy wheels and tires separately or a package deal? Any issues with the TPMS sensors and "teaching" the car to recognize them or did you just reuse the old ones? Sam AKA: I think the anthracite would look great too. I bought them separately. I'm just going to leave the old ones on the wheels. I didn't put sensors in these. I didn't get a fault for 3 days, then it goes away after about 3 starts then stays off. I expect it to come back about Friday. It's not really that annoying. I see that American Muscle has a kit that is the cheapest I've seen at 147 for sensors bands and programing tool. I'm going to order it and have them put in for the peace of mind. 2007_Shelby_GT
Just ordered mine from American Muscle! Cant' wait! Someone posted elsewhere about a TPMS tool you can order from Ford for around $15.00 - I think it was for a 2008 F250, but will work for the SGT, might be something to consider though I ordered the works from AM. One other question: Did you have any issues with fender spacing caused by the fixed panhard bar, (One side sticking out further than the other), or do you have a Watts Link/adjustable panhard? I probably will go ahead and order an adjustable panhard bar just in case, then save up cash for future Watts link! Thanks! White/Silver SGT's rule! 2007_Shelby_GT
I went ahead and had AM put on the Nitto Extreme's just to get some rubber on the road. I plan on going to the F1's when the boss let's me out of the dog house for this purchase! Steeda has an adjustable panhard bar and associated bar brace for around $250 that should take care of any "lop-sided" issues. Sam AKA:

So, I just went out and checked and yeah, the driver's side is out about 3/16". I guess I'll be deciding on suspension upgrades sooner than I thought. 2007_Shelby_GT
Does this explain why a DS wheel would stick out more than the passenger? Yes it does! In short, lots of times the live-axle rear-end/axle/suspension is not exactly centered under the car. Visually more noticeable in lowered cars with large wheel/tire combos. It would also affect handling characteristics because the rear wheels would not properly "follow" the front, hence careful installation of suspension parts is necessary and or using adjustable pieces such as an adjustable panhard bar (the SGT's is fixed length) or Watts link. Luck of the draw if yours is not to far out. Hang a string and plumb-bob from the rear quarter panel, centered on the wheel. Measure the distance from the center-cap to the string on both sides and you can see for yourself! Sam AKA:

I always thought maybe the spring was weaker on one side and the spring was compressed more than the other, therefore the passenger side would lean a little lower than the other causing the 1/4 panel to lean out more. Then I also thought I was never parked on a level surface. I guess to fix my problem I am going to have to research and get an adjustable panhard bar or Watts link like you mentioned. Thanks a bunch. No problem, glad to assist! I just installed the Steeda adjustable panhard bar and brace. Really easy install and they are nice pieces of good quality. I plan on a Fays2 Watts link in the future, some informal research on this forum indicates that it seems to be the brand that most folks go for. Now if those wheels and tires would just hurry up and get here! Sam AKA:
James Hill
I just measured with my stock wheels, and found that the rear was off by 1/4". Now I am not a mechanic by any means, but getting the rear diff centered, is that not one of those fundamentals in car building? It seems to me having the diff centered would be a critical to the handeling of the car. Does this hurt the car or tires at all?

It seems to me having the diff centered would be a critical to the handeling of the car. Does this hurt the car or tires at all? I would think that if the offset was extreme it probably would affect handling, tires, etc. I've seen some circle-track racers that were wayyy offset, but they're purpose built. (Kinda like those old cartoons where the car goes around a corner and the body is hanging out over the cliff with the tires still on the road!) But honestly, hand-built cars, if the builder is detail oriented, are likely to have much closer tolerances than our factory made models, and when all is said and done, ours are pretty close! Again, most people won't even notice it unless your wheel/tire combo fills up the wheel well. As for the tires, a bit of offset isn't going to hurt if the rear axle is parallel with the front-end. If it isn't, you'll definitely wear out tires quicker as you "dog-track" down the road. (Depending on which rear tire is leading, the car will continually pull left or right) Sam AKA:
FordFan1
The stock non-adjustable Panhard bar is engineered for the stock suspension height from Ford. Once you introduce a lower spring (like the FRPP kit that Shelby installed) the rear end will offset and requires a shorter Panhard bar (adjustable) to get the geometry of the rearend back in line.. I've installed the Steeda (Roush) and Griggs (Shelby), both great quality..
