Shelby on the road

Group,

I live in Southern California and see limited production cars everyday. I commute 72 miles daily and on occasion travel from LA to Orange county for work. I see a ton of mustangs, some Saleen and Roush. However, Shelby's are far and few. I look for them everyday and they certainly don't sit on the dealer lot unless the guy wants +5k over msrp.

One exception to my statement is that a coworker of mine uses his 08 Shelby as a daily commuter. Although, he agrees that you don't see that many other Shelbys on the road as well. So here is the question, are the majority of newer (2007-2010) Shelby mustangs owners just using the car for weekend drives or stored away in a collection? Opinions?

These are great cars and I was just wondering why you don't see more of them on the road. Especially in Southern Cal. :headscratch:

I live in Minneapolis MN. I've seen only 2 GT500s and they were 07-09. Only 10 GT500 I've seen is sitting on a dealer's lot. Though I know there are a couple members on this site that live in the Twin Cities area and own a 10 GT500. I think it has to do with our terrible winter weather for a majority of the year. Then summer is still difficult because the roads are terrible and the traffic is worse. Takes away from the fun of a 500+ HP car with a manual transmission when you're bumper to bumper rolling 20 MPH on a 65 MPH highway.

The only others I have seen were at a dealer, one used. Mine is a daily driver, and I even have winter tires on it!

I live and work in Newport Beach, CA. I drive mine every day of the week. Got the GT500 in October 2007 - it is an '08 with 9,700+ miles on it now. My son's Shelby GT on the other hand sits in the garage as he is off to college now. I drive it once a week around the block, and of course he drives it the minute he gets home until he has to leave again when visiting us....

I drive my '07 daily in SoCal and I see other GT500's pretty often - but I have yet to see a 2010. Not even at my local Ford dealers. I don't think I've ever seen one in person!

smbullet, I think you need to get up early this Saturday and drive to Cars & Coffee in the OC (Irvine), you'll see 10 or More Shelby's within a 1/2 hour. Last Sat there were 2 '10's. I rarely go a day without seeing a Shelby of some flavor on the OC freeways

Im in the Northern California Bay Area... and see only a few Shelby's around... someone at my work has an 08 Gt500 in the Silverish color with black stripes (I think he's a daily driver). Another one around the corner from my house has an 07 GT500 in white with black stripes. But during the week i dont see much around. During the weekend I can spot atleast 1 on the road going the opposite direction as me.

As for me I only drive my KR once in a while and ususally on the weekend ... (although I want to drive it daily). Im thinking of getting another Shleby for a daily driver... (not sure which one)

Wow..you must live in a GT500 hot bed or something!

There is an Army base here, There is prolly around a 20 or so total. (SGT and GT5 together)

I know of 3 other black SGT's, 2 white, 4 blue, 0 orange, 0 BJ. and a whole bunch of GT5's between the years, I have seen 1 KR, and 2 SS cars also. No Terlinguas, no CS6. Population is around 110k. People around here really like Carroll Shelby and his cars. I have the only SGT in town that is modified, I also have the only GT/SC.

I've seen one on the highway and one parked down the street from out of town for about two weeks. Other then that never see them....however there are 4 parked at the dealership I buy from.

Curse the day I promised the wife to keep the current mustang GT for 4 years minumum. Another year and the 2011 will be mine...maybe sooner if I can talk the wife into it.

I've seen a few on the road in Fayetteville, GA. but never while I'm driving mine. Except for last Sunday when I was taking a cruise I saw a black with white stripes 07-09 coming up in my rear view mirror. I slow down to let him catch up and he goes by without even looking my direction much less a wave. I thought it might be cool to cruise together for a short while but he didn't seem to even notice me. Oh well. Also there is a 2010 Kona blue with white stripes at my local dealership just sitting outside for over a month now. :headscratch:

Here in suburban D.C., I see maybe one on the road every week or two, but always 07-09. I have seen several 2010 V6s and 2010 GTs but have yet to see another 2010 GT500 on the road.

I'm in Rockville...so maybe we will pass on I-495 one day! I was driving my everyday car (Acura MDX) this past weekend when a white with Kona blue stripe coupe passed me. I wish I had my car with me!

Are they still having the event since Ford vacated the building? Seeing Shelby's there sounds right, however I commute everyday on the 405, 22 and 5 and still stand by my earlier post that these cars are far and few. To this day, I still haven't seen a '10 yet. Sounds like your traveling where the ponies roam. :lurk:

:shift: I drove my SGT from central Florida to western Arkansas and back and only saw ONE other Shelby, a KR in southern Mississippi. I drive my SGT daily and rarely, if ever, see another Shelby. This is really sad as the newer Shelby Mustang's heritage will be as Garage Queens, not as the fun cars they are ! :happy feet:
