snakeplissken
I think the 08 GT500 will be priced $5K higher than the 07. My reasoning is simple the 2005 Ford GT had the MSRP raised into the second year of production(by $10K) due to the dealers ADM's. Chevrolet raised the price on the Z06 by $6K between 06 and 07 due to the ADM's. Raising the price by $5K(on 9200 units) makes Ford 46 Million extra dollars since the Dealer invoice will be raised with the MSRP. I don't think it will raise the selling price of the GT500's it will just lower the dealer profit. Maybe I'm wrong but it sure makes sense for Ford and they will still sell just as fast. If they raise the price, IMO the ADM's will not be affected. The dealers will still do there own thing.
LR 01 Cobra
If Ford does raise the price 5K that will just make the Corvette look just that much better. I don't think that would be a wise move on Ford's part. That don't mean that they won't, because we all know they've done some STUPID things in the past, that's why they are in the trouble their in now! mastersmech1
If i'm Ford, I raise the price 5k. Why shouldn't they benefit? The consumer, by the majority of us paying an ADM, has dictated a higher price than Ford set. Raise the price to screw over the dealers. I bet the OTD price will not change. Fastbackman
I had a long Nasty reply, But I think I'll just say Merry Christmas! Tim I agree with you Tim. Not everyone Ford is selling to is a hard-core enthusiast. Even though the Shelby has no competition right now as far as 4-seaters go, the competition is coming and it's coming soon. It won't be long until the enthusiast are all bought up and this car actually has to compete against the Challenger and Camaro and possibly more. Not everyone is like us and the car needs to be priced to compete when the competition arrives. Lots of people are looking for high performance muscle cars who don't care if it says Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. Look at all the Chevy people who came our way when the '05 Mustang came along. I respect your opinon, but there is something special about the name "SHELBY". The mystique of these cars is something that Chevy or Dodge just can't touch (in my opinion). These cars will hold value and eventually will increase. That wont happen with the camaro or challenger. If you own one of these (as I do) then I can tell you that these are VERY special vehicles. I love mine more than I thought would be possible. This car doesn't need to be priced to compete with anything. People who have the cash and want the car will get it. I want the new Ferrari 599 GTB, but I just can't shell out 400K for that car. That car is going for 150K over sticker!!!! It's all relative and as much as I wish that EVERYONE who wants a SHELBY can get one in the price range that fits their budget, that just isn't reality. My 2 cents. Mery Christmas!! I think your basic theory is correct - Ford should raise the price more in line with what the market is telling them. I also don't think dealers could simply put the same ADM on the new price. The market is dictating a price around $60k whether for a coupe or convertible. Given the different MSRP of each, it's clear the MSRP is irrelevant. Changing the MSRP would only redistribute the profit in Ford's favor. The situation with the Ford GT was very different. They had initially planned a 3-4 year production run. However, in 05 they had a very expensive recall, and new crash standards for what would have been year three of production made a redesign cost prohibitive. So, Ford had to re-amortize the cost over two years' worth of cars instead of three or four years, thus the price increased. I would be surprised if Ford broke even on that car. Lutzcat
How can they be ADMs on the year model 2008 when they are not going to be produced? You heard the computer man say it clearly, (only 2007). Damn, what was that Baby Ruth looking thing flying past my head?
