Baseline (Pre Twins) Dyno Numbers

Those are some pretty strong numbers. Definitely would be happy with those. Those are stock numbers? or did you do some mods? :headscratch:
Surprised because a car making 540hp at the crank would normally see, with a 17% loss of power through the drivetrain, about 462rwhp. Mine made 475, which is a little better than I had thought it would.

 

The car was bone stock w/ 3k miles on it.

Great #'s! I hope that my 2010 will put those #'s down this Friday at the same shop that you went to! The weather may have an impact. It is supposed to rain a bit...so it may be a bit humid...which isn't perfect conditions. I can't wait for my pulley swap and tune!

Sounds great Garagelogic. Lots of factors play into the numbers and of course some engines just are stronger than others.

 

It'd be interesting to see sometime somebody do a comparison of what air temperature does to the power output of our cars. I've seen numerous people posting how much stronger their car feels in the 45 degree autumn weather. I'm sure it's true...but it'd be nice to see some documentation of the numbers.

I havent dyno'ed my car at all yet, but I will tell you in my observation...

 

My vert now has 4600 miles on it, on its second oil change (first one at 1000, second at 4200), and the car seems to be MUCH stronger than a just few months ago. Now, could be this nice crisp Jersey air we have now, but its SO noticeable...

 

My only mod that could help with that is a JLT Carbon Fiber Intake pipe, but it sure is nice!!!

Its the cold,less humid air.Air (oxygen) is much denser at low temp/low humid, so the more oxygen,the more poweful the burn.I think thats why when folks do a dyno,and the engine warms up, the dyno numbers drop.Ive seen the same thinh here in Atl when it was in the 40s,and 15% humidity last week.But if it cold and raining, you wont see the gain

That's because it's 12% drive train loss not 17%. Recalculate and you will see you are right on. Of course there are other factors but 12% is usually the accepted average and is not an exact science as mentioned other factors come into play.

I've been fiddling around with cars for decades now and I can tell you, in my own experience, I have never encountered a factory-produced automobile that only lost 12% through the drivetrain. I'd have to disagree that 12% is the industry-accepted standard.

Yea weather makes a huge difference. I can tell you that my car feels so much stronger in cooler weather. I took her out the other night and it was in the upper 60's. I can tell you that my car felt like a 100 pounds lighter, just pulled hard.

 

When I had mine dynoed the baseline was 98 degrees outside and it was right around 455rwhp. After the tune, and at 107 degrees it made 499rwhp. I'm going to dyno mine again when its nice and cold..well for Phoenix thats in the 60's! Plus I just installed a JBA off road xpipe so I want to see how much difference that makes to my numbers.

remind me, was your tune a custom one at a local shop, or one of the handheld ones.For 98 those are pretty good numbers.is there a creection factor built into the dynojet,if not you'll see a big incrase Im sure
