justindewoody
I am at work today and I drove my other car, so I don't have my owner's manual with me. I want to go the local Ford dealership and pick up a filter and some oil so I can change it this week. Can someone please post the correct part numbers for oil & filter and the correct amount of oil? Thanks.

jpierson
What do you need to prove that you have changed your oil every 6 months to keep your warranty valid? I was thinking I will just take it to a Ford dealer to have a paper trail.

I was thinking I will just take it to a Ford dealer to have a paper trail. Hmmm..... Not being an owner yet of one of these cars, and thus not having yet read the owner's manual, I would have two questions: 1) Does maintaining the factory warranty require an oil change every 6 months? (is it based on the time interval of 6 months, or on miles driven, like every 5k miles)? 2) What does an oil change typically cost if you take one of these cars to the Ford dealer (including supplies and labor)? Just trying to get a better understanding of the cost of ownership for a car of this type. Thanks, -Pockdog

Thanks, -Pockdog I took mine to the dealership they suggested change oil every 8000km didn't say anything about 6 months. They used mobil 1 5W-50 synthetic(6liters)@$9.59 and FRPP filter #M-6731-FL820@$25.45. Total 121.00 The tech who did it was perfect. There was a little dust on the car. When all said and done not one spec of dust was moved or any finger prints on the car anywhere. The engine was pristine clean no oil spillage or anything. I did tell them I was very picky and would inspect the car prior to paying. I'm sure it can be done cheaper at home but my 2 Cents hardly worth it. Interesting that you cite the dealer suggestion. Does the Owner's Manual state what the recommended mielage interval should be for an oil change? Heck, $121.00 is a bargain in my book! I used to own a BMW and while the typical oil change interval was at about 1,500 miles; when it was performed, it was not cheap by any measure! Ah but now, the folks who broke into my house in May, grabbed my stuff, loaded into the BMW, found the spare key and drove off with my stuff and my car have essentially relieved me of the expense of having to maintain a BMW! As I work through the insurance claim, hopefully soon to own a GT500! -Pockdog
skipm
the maintenance guide says 7500 miles or 6 months for oil changes. If the math is done 8000km works out to just over 4900 miles so I guess it falls into the 7500 miles.
goldgus
My dealer did my oil change, and the total cost was $81.00, They used 7 quarts of Castrol Syntec 5w-50 (ONLY PUT IN THE REQUIRED 6.5) and the Ford FL820S filter. The Ford Racing filter is about $10 more if you want that one.

I always change my own oil - best way to ensure it gets done right. Here's Ford's statement on warranty and maintenance. Protect your warranty! Routine maintenance is not only the best way to help keep your vehicle running great, it’s also the best way to protect your warranty. While maintenance and repair services may be performed by you or by any automotive service provider you choose, it is your responsibility to see that all scheduled maintenance is performed and that the materials used meet Ford Engineering specifications. Failure to perform scheduled maintenance specified in this guide will invalidate warranty coverage on parts affected by the lack of maintenance. We can’t stress enough how important it is to keep records of all maintenance. This guide will help you do just that. While Ford Motor Company will not deny a warranty claim simply because there is no documentation, damage or failures due to a lack of proper maintenance or neglect are not covered under warranty. Pretty straight forward, perform the oil change every 5K miles. -Pockdog
