HORSBYT
Anyone rip out the basic lawn chair from the SGT and put in a real set of seats yet? If so, what did you put in and post up pics.
kahmann
I've been patiently waiting for my Griggs seats to be built for a couple of months now. You can order them in different widths and colors. I don't remember what size I have on order, but I went with the all black cover. The coolest feature is that they'll swap your OEM power seat motor over to the racing bucket! Here's what they look like installed on a GR40 Mustang and on a GT500. ShelbyGT/SC
Yes, I purchased some Shelby Series 1 seats. They are awesome. I had to order some specially hand made brackets which should hopefully come in any day now. I can't wait to put them in permanently. I put the seats in the car temporarily just to see how they look and they are awesome, especially since they are signed. My only apprehension is that I am 5' 7" and not really that wide a person so I am hopeful the seats hold me in tightly enough. I also purchased 4-point harnesses as well. I will post pics when I can. I have been doing SCCA Autocross Solo this summer when I could. It has been difficult to hold myself in the seat and spend energy hanging on rather than driving so I am hopeful to knock off a few seconds with the new seats and harnesses. I went to HMS Motorsports here in MA and sat in a bunch of different seats. I really liked the Cobra seats and some Recarros as well. If the Shelby Series 1 seats don't hold me in well enough for Autocross, I may sell them on eBay and purchase the Cobra's. What seats are you thinking of putting in your SGT? Those are some of the coolest seats around and I'll bet they'll look great in the SGT.

clark17357
And, by definintion, would you not lose your side airbag? I had racing buckets in my 1967 Porsche, along with 4 point harnesses and that took are of things nicely (5 point would have been a touch better). I would do a 5 or 6 point harness first and, for most of us, that will keep our fanny in one spot. The heavier you are, the more you will need the racing seat (and you thought you would never use what you learned in physics). The same thing is true the more you road race (I can't imagine you would need a racing seat for 1/4 mile racing). Adam, can you PM me with the cost of the Series One seats? Just curious. FordFan1
Here's a shot of my RECARO Profi XL I install for the summer months/track days... I don't know what they are called, but they rotate down when you try to get in the back and pull back up to hold the seatbelt forward... Carl Just a little issue with the ratchet device inside, there is a possibility that the ratcheting mechanism can come a part when you remove them. If this happens, be sure to pay close attention to the way it comes a part, so you can reassembly the device when your ready to mount the bar. If you’re careful you can keep it together without this happening, I had 1 come a part on me mostly because I didn't have enough hands and dropped the assembly during the reassembly process. Also there is a metal spacer/sleeve that is used when mounting the bar that goes on the bolts between the plastic and body of the car, if you’re not careful one of these could easily be dropped between the interior panel and cost you time fishing around for it with a magnet (I had no issue here but I can see were this could happen). I did my install all by myself, but an extra set of hands to hold the bar will attaching it would have been very helpful.. Other then that it was pretty straight forward

ShelbyGT/SC
Okay I finally finished putting the Shelby Series 1 Seats in my Shelby GT/SC. Hope you all like the pics. I love these seats. They look awesome. I also love the feel of the seats since they have less cushion than the Mustang seats so I feel the power of the engine more in my back when I rev it up. I also love the design since the headrest is positioned further back than the Mustang seats so when I wear a helmut, I will be able to keep my head straight instead of forward (which was uncomfortable). I bought these seats a long time ago and had to have seat brackets made so it took a while to put them in but it was worth the wait. As mentioned earlier in this thread, my only apprehension is that they are a little wider than what I was expecting so I am concerned they won't hold me in as much as I'd like for SCCA Autocross and road course racing. Don't mind the installation of the 4-point harness. Other than a clutch, driveshaft, 3:73 gears and front suspension upgrades, one of my other next mods is a roll bar so once I have that, I will properly install the rear of the harness. I just need to find a roll bar which will allow me to put the kids car seats in the back. kahmann
Wow Adam those look absolutely killer! Congrats - I'm sure they'll hold you in just fine, but if they don't, I'll be happy to take them from you. Ken

SHELBY#18
Those really look sharp, and compliment the car nicely. I hope they work out for you on the track. When you had the brackets made did you do it so you could swap the standard seats? All the best... Rick
ShelbyGT/SC
Thanks guys. Ken, I hope to bring the car to this year's CSBB so see you there if so. Bill, I will PM you. Rick, yes, these Series 1 seats now bolt into the same holes in the floor the Mustang seats did.

kahmann
So for those of you that don't really care whether the Griggs logo is on the racing seat, but really like their seats... Roger pointed out to me that it looks awfully similar to the Kirkey road race bucket. Well it most definitely is, just with the Griggs logo sewn over the Kirkey logo. The Griggs logo is worth lots of dough to me, but may not be to you. So here's the Kirkey seat and cover for a whole lot less cash at Jegs: http://www.jegs.com/p/Kirkey/Kirkey-Alumin...760654/10002/-
