09KR0058
Don't care for them myself. I'm sticking with what SAI put on the car. I'm sure they put a lot of thought into the tires/wheels/suspension combination, so I'm not messing with it.

txcobra
I'm sure they did...the prototype they built had 20's on it and many of their other packages do too, but it seems to be the general consensus that the 18's perform better overall. It's all personal preference, but I love the way they look (the 20's) and I want to preserve the very rare 18's any way I can. Unless, of course, I sell them to SC471! What do you think, does $1000 for wheels and tires sound fair?

txcobra
Sorry, I was TOTALLY kidding..I think he was too. One of the main reasons for my interest in the 20" version of this wheel was to preserve these ultra rare wheels.
kronus01
I agree on the look of the 20's, the stance and the relationship to the wheel well looks just right. I would do the same in your position, buy a set of 20's and use them for daily use and keep the ultra rare 18's safe and sound
txcobra
Thanks, that is the plan. I would have thought someone else had done this, but maybe not?
JUST 1BULLITT
GOOD ideas guys; I THOUGHT someone had done this w/ the 20's already too...guess we'll see. Man, I still CAN'T believe I've got a KR of my very own sitting at home in my garage!!! :happy feet: :happy feet: ) I want to get home and start it up just to hear it ROAR to life!! There's NO other way to describe it; these really DO 'ROAR' to life when you start 'em up COLD especially!! I think my neighbors will start complaining soon! Take care all and Happy Wheeling! joshua484
I like this idea. IF I had a KR I would have the 20" Alcoas on it for daily driving, and a standard GT500 rear spoiler - because that is what they had on the prototype in all the photos..... looks the best.... txcobra
Agreed! Although, I will probably change the wheels but not the spoiler.
shelbypt
My thought was to put on the 20" Alcoas, because it looks sick! This will also preserve the 18" wheels and tires for originality in the future. The look of the 20" is very agressive looking, may ride a little harder, but I don't really care about that a whole lot.
r0nstott
I just love the look of the 20" rims... Mine just arrived last night... too late to take pictures I'll post some pics soon. But the handling is much better a bit rougher ride tho with 295/30/20 & 255/35/20 front
KR158
Someone had posted a link to a wheel place online selling the 20in ss alcoa wheels with toyo proxy tires for 2595 shipped and mounted. I don't recall web site anyone know or bought from them? Seems like a good deal.

fcettner
Roger 18's - Only got 3K for miles so working on burning some rub down. A challenge to keep them wheels shining though, but I'm hard core car buff. Happy riding

shelbypt
I forgot I had these pictures. They were taken at the Museum and this is Carrol's 2008KR. Notice that these are 20" Alcoas and have GT500KR engraved in them. A pre-production car for sure!

JADEDaddy73
http://www.cruizinconceptswholesale.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SUPERSNAKETOYOWHEELTIREPKG Thanks for posting that site. I am going to call on Monday morning. I actually placed an order with Shelby Perf. Parts last week for the 20/10s & 20/9's but they are out of stock due to a manufacturing issue. They said at least 90 days. If this place you posted has them I will be so happy to cancel the other order and grab them from them! The deal is $2848.00 & comes with the staggered Alcoa/SHelby Wheels & Toyo Proxes tires as opposed to the Pirelli P Zeros on the Shelby Show Model or on the Super Snake but I'll burn up the Toyo's and swap up to the Pirelli's. Thanks again.
FiaCobra
Gary, Thnx for posting those pics. I see Carrolls car has the "GT500" spoiler, 1/4 window aluminum covers, carbon fiber rocker covers, cross drilled/slotted rotors, and the 20's. I'd love to know the CSM# and VIN# of that KR. Car looks killer !

shelbypt
Yeah, the center cap is completely different, it protrudes from the wheel, while ours are flat and had GT500KR. The outer lip of the 20" is angled differently than our 18" wheels too. I guess none of the KR owners have the 20" Alcoas.
frknfast
I was at the Nevada shop in Nov 2008 and talking to Gary P while on a tour. I noticed the KRs being built with the 18s and thought they were supposed to come with the 20s. Gary told me the 20s werre only for the SS. Also I understnad that unless you provide proof of ownership of a SS they will not sell the 20s. My brother got alcoa 20s on his 09 gt 500 but they did not say shelby or anything else. Just plane ,no engravings. I can tell you they look great on his car. Since the bodies are basically the same I assume they would look great on the KR as well. Anyone can buy the regular Alcoas but only SS owners can get the ones with Super Snake stamped in them. All of the "regular" ones that I've seen have Shelby and Forged stamped in them, but do not say Super Snake. I haven't seen any that didn't have anything stamped in them...hmmm, I wonder if this is a recent change? edit: I am adding the link to the shelby store for the alcoas...it shows the two stampings on the wheel. Would be curious to see if your brother actually got a set with nothing on them. Shelby Store Alcoas I can't wait to get the 20's on my KR (they should arrive this week).....they just look to me like they should have been on the car from SAI. Car looks killer ! I'm not Gary but I can answer some of the questions in this thread. When I took the tour I addressed these questions to our tour guide. I was told that the car is a CONCEPT car and that's why it has the 20's, big brakes, SS splitter, etc. on it. It is *not* a final production KR. He said Ford Motor Company made the decision to go with 18" wheels instead of the 20" wheels and the standard GT500 brakes over the Shelby/Baer brakes on this car, plus the now infamous plasan CF splitter over the SAI SS style splitter. FWIW, I compared a Super Snake and a KR next to each other while I was there and there are *big* differences between the two splitters, especially where the splitter meets the front wheel well. One is squared off, the other is rounded and curves up to the tip. MUCH more refined on the KR. And the CSM number on that car is 001C (C, as in Concept). txcobra
Ok, I finally got the 20's on. I know not everbody loves them, but in my opinion, this is the way the car should have come. It is now officially perfect in my opinion. Pics don't do it justice, it is stunning in person. I am so happy I did this. I posted these in another Alcoa thread, but thought I would share these with my KR brothers. Here are those pics:
