Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but my poor 2010, kona blue, white stripe, nav beauty is sitting in storage at the dealer as they wait for the title to show up. wtf, they have my money, but I have no car. They're apologetic and have ordered another title but it's getting close to a week and i'm impatient! anybody else have this experience and if so how long did it take for the title to show up?

A few questions.

Is car paid in full

Have you actually seen the car

I used to buy wholesale and not having a title has never delayed a sale or change in possession of owner.

Not sure but something does not sound right to me. That is why they have power of attorney forms that can be signed.

I would push dealer, something seems wrong.

I don't get it! Each state has their own title and some even require a transfer if you move to their state. Also, titles arn't made up until the registration paperwork gets to the DMV. Then the title either gets mailed to you, if paid in full, or to a lein holder. So a title from the manufacturer, I'm raising the B.S. FLAG.

Edgecomb,

Me too, definitely something fishy going on here. My title was mailed to me approx 1 week after I collected the car.

Is there a PDI problem, something dodgy going on with the finance, or perhaps it was damaged on the test drive?.......... :o.....either way best get to the dealer and get it sorted.

I suppose this could be something strange about Massachusetts, but that does seem rather bizarre. That said however, apparently in Massachusetts it is illegal to put tomatoes in clam chowder...Hghhhh.......?

Regards, Ian

At least in Ga it wasnt an issue--didnt get the title for a month, but all i needed to register the car was the bill of sale.Something is strnge, esp if you paid for the car in full already.Tell the dealer youll put a stop on the check if he doesnt give you the car immediately, with all thepapers necesssary to register the car.You might call DMV in your state to see what you need to register the car

Yes the car is paid in full and I guess the document is called the manufacturers certificate of origin(mco) and it's what is needed by the DMV to register the car and issue a title. The document is provided by Ford.

I've been pushing the dealer, but all they said they can do is enter online a request for a replacement. Which they did, I've asked if they can push it through and have it overnighted but they say there's no number for them to call.

I called Ford customer service and got no where, they said it's a dealer issue. I asked if they could call the group that re-issues the MCO to see if they could expedite but he just kept repeating "nothing I can do, talk to the dealer"

the car has been at the dealer for 20 days, I ordered it in april and out of the blue they called me and told me it was in, I knew it would be soon thanks to this forum that told me how to look up the vin. Took me about a week to process the transactions i needed for the 60k and I told them i'd be picking it up last Friday, when I showed they noticed that they did not have the MCO and here we are.....

At least they gave me the owners manual to look through

id still check with DMV to see what they need--sounds weird to me.Dont they have "driveout" tags in Ma.Here in ga, the dealer gives you cardboard tags with an expiration date on them, that you drive till the paperwork shows up.Seems like its your car--what happens if it gets damaged or stolen on their lot--is it insured by them or is it your problem.Id ask the dealer about who's responsible--maybe ask your insurance company what ifs

You know what those a great questions, it's not covered under my insurance yet, since legally it hasnt transferred to me since no title has been filed or registered. They have my check, I'll need to see if its cleared. MA does not have driveout tags, everything gets there plates right away. I'll ask them the great questions you posted.

Thanks All for the support and feedback.

I did a drop ship on my car from a dealer in Florida to a Ford dealer in NY, the final dealer was a LM dealer owned by a friend of mine. When the car showed up at Ford he gave me a dealer plate to go pick up the car and drive it to his dealership. The least they could do is slap a plate on it for a couple of weeks so you can have the car until the paperwork is sorted out. (This is all on the basis that Mass is similar to NY and the dealers have plates they can transfer car to car).

Let us know what happens and good luck!

Regards,

Jim

I hope when you say they have your money they mean they have a deposit and not that you have paid it in full.

Do they have this problem with other cars? it may be ford cut them off for not paying there floor plan and thats why ford has not released the titles.

What condtion is the dealership in? I would be real nervous with this
