sportscars
I spy with my little eye: Red pipes coming out of the ground (fire dept?) A white metal security fence What appears to be a small trailer (construction type) The sun setting or rising behind a large industrial building Several telephone and light poles A couple trees A curb

shelbymotorsports
The former Whittier CA Shelby facility? Yup. The Whittier facility is gone, gone, gone. Was driving thru Whittier the other day and realized that Putnam street was just a mile away so decided to go by since its been years from my last visit. In a nutshell the hospital that was behind the Whittier facility has expanded once again and the U.S. Filter property was taken over. USF was the owner of the property that Shelby leased to build the Shelby Dodge cars. I'll post a few pics in a little bit but there's not much to see anymore. shelbymotorsports
Here are a few more pics. Really don't show you much since everything is gone. The last two photos are pics of where the city extended a street right thru the old property. So while most of the old Shelby facility is now a parking lot at least some of it is a street that some DNA tire rubber can be left on. I only wish I knew this was going to happen. I would have tried to get into the facility for some last pics as there were still signs of the Shelby days. Steve

BobsShelbyDakota
Maybe we should put a plaque up commemorating the Shelby Plant location! Like the one in Tulsa for the 57 Plymouth time capsule location. Bob
shelbymotorsports
Here's a better look at the old Whittier facility. Point #1 was the entrance to the main lobby. Point #2 was Carroll's office. Point #3 was production lines. Point #4 was the small R&D building. Pacific Place no longer dead ends into Putnam. It now continues straight into the hospital complex right thru the side of where the Shelby facility was. Steve
Joe Anderson
The production line buildings are still there, just the one one building that had carrolls office is gone. Wonder if any of the original tooling is still inside those production line buildings? Someone needs to take a roadtrip and look inside the building, maybe there's a csx still in there.
