Front and rear bumpers fit is terrible, what to do?

My left rear bumper does not fit flush with the left rear fender. My front bumper, left and right sides do not fit flush with the front fenders. My car is black, so it is not that noticable. But, it bothers me, and I am wondering if the bumpers can be tightened up so they fit flush. I would hate to have to get all new bumpers, new striping etc, although it should be under warranty. Anyone know how to fix this without removing the bumpers? I am not happy with the "fit and finish" on my car. See pictures below.

They can be adjusted but leave it to the pros. If I were you I would want a complete inspection from the underside just to make sure there were no panels replaced because of transit damage.

It is hard to believe that it would make it out of the factory with it looking like that.

My front left HID light did not work when I got the car delivered also. I bought the car in Denver Colorado, only seeing pictures of it online. I had it shipped to my house in LA, which only took 2 days. I took it to my local dealer to get a new HID under warranty, Galpin Ford here is Los Angeles, and they took off the front bumper to replace the light, and they did not tell me anything regarding past damage. I have looked closely under my car, and I am sure it was not damaged, but who knows. I do not remember my front bumper being like that before the new light was replaced, so maybe the front is due to when they put the front bumper back on, they did not tighten it up enough, or adjust it properly. But the back left panel looks lousy, the right rear is aligned perfectly. Maybe I should go to a reputable body shop, or back to the dealer for this. I may call ford directly.

My left rear bumper kinda "pops" out a bit from the fender, so I know what you're talking about. Even though nobody would notice, it sucks cuz I know it's like that.

WTF is Ford doing with these damn cars and their fit and finish issues? Good luck, should be fixable though.

How can the left rear be fixed? I looked underneath, and could see nothing. I think maybe through the trunk something can be tightened easily, I hope, and then i will be happy. The front bumper is much less noticable, only if you really look, so I can live with that.

LuisA, thanks!

I have the same thing on my rear bumper, and I know nobody would ever really notice it but I do. It definitely bothers me. I'm hesitant to take it in to the dealer but i'm afraid they will make it worse.

For some reason I don't remember the rear not being flush when I picked it up. Maybe it's possible after driving it around, the body has relaxed and flexed a little?...

My '07 GT/CS was the same way with the rear valence. It just wasn't quite as flush as I would have liked it.

On this GT500 it seems the drivers side rear bumper protrudes a tiny bit right above the mini mud flap thing but it flush on the passenger side. Like most people - it drives me insane - but I don't think anyone else would notice.

If I decide to do some work around the exhaust I might see if I can do something with it

I have an 09......and the day I picked it up...I noticed the driver's side rear bumper kind of stuck out about 1/4 or less of an inch...whereas the passenger side is perfectly flush.....I am a very OCD type person....but I am letting this slide......my father told me that NO car off of an assembly line is going to be perfect...just drive the car and enjoy it

Melissa809, I respect your opinion, but disagree with it 100%. This is not just a little fit and finish issue. Did you look at my pictures? The left rear is ridiculous how far from flush it is to the rear fender. I spent 51,000.00 plus taxes and I am going to have it as close to perfect as possible. I looked at several 2010 shelby GT500's this past weekend at a couple of ford mustang shows, and none of them looked like mine. And by the way, I showed my dealer and they are going to fix it. I was told it can be adjusted without taking the bumper off. And I do drive and enjoy it, as I have owned many mustangs and high performance cars, and none of my past 6 mustangs over the past 9 years have had fit and finish issues as this one does. Including my 2000 saleen conv, 2006 saleen, and 2007 shelby GT500!
