SmellSoGood
Hi, My dealer sold me a maintenance plan from Ford for oil changes and the complete 100 point checkup (fluids, brake check, tranny, etc.). He calls me yesterday saying that was a mistake because the Ford GT/GT500 have no code to put it in the Ford system. Is this crap - does anyone know if the GT500 can be on a maintenance plan? They're trying to give me new headrests with DVD players in return; no sure how that will work if no one can fit in the back. Alternatively, they can also put the rear camera feature for safety. What say you? Is there anything else that's Ford stock OEM that I could get because neither option above, except the maintenance plan itself, is worth it. Thanks, SSG (Tom)
goldgus
Not sure if what they are saying is true, but the only 2 things I wanted to order, and couldn't, were the homelink rear view mirror and heated seats. Why you can get these on a plain jane mustang, and not on our cars, is beyond me. I think dvd screens in a shelby are useless. But just IMHO. melissa809
Yeah..I don't understand about the heated seats, too...plus my 03 GT has lighted vanity mirrors and headrests that tilt.....but I digress I ALSO think DVD screens in the headrests are useless.....PLUS I would be very nervous letting the dealer do that work.....my parents had the dealer install heaters in their seats of their Pontiac Solstice...and the person doing the work.....installed the switch for it crooked.....my Dad said he could've done a better job
mach1fever
The reason for this is the 500 uses a different type of synthetic oil that costs more. Either make him stick to it or have him give your money back + interest if you financed it. Roger

If they want to swap out the maintenance plan for some fixed price item, they'll be winning. Sounds like some bait and switch tactic that nets them some sweet $$$ up to 75,000 miles for selling me something and then retracting it with a shitier deal. menerso
I just talked to my dealer today about this. They said that Ford is coming out with a maintenance program for the GT500 in the next month or so. My dealer said that they would cover the difference when it comes out or they would refund the money for me. I told them to wait to see if it does come out. You should ask your dealer about this. If you want I can put you in contact with my dealer. marty
Venom460
The Ford maintenance plans do not cover the Shelby GT500 due to the fact that it requires full synthetic 5w50 oil. The cost of this oils is roughly 4 times the price traditional oil. If you want a refund, simply demand they refund the full amount and if you actually financed the amount in your contract then require them to re-contract your purchase reflecting the lower amount. shelbymotorsports
Maintenance plans like the extended warranty plans are refundable. Just cancel the maintenance plan. Keep in mind if you financed the plan the refund will be applied to your loan balance. Steve
